Sticky grenades have been around since WW2. They were used as Anti-tank grenades, but I'm pretty sure they could be made smaller for personal combat. The design to make them stick to things wasn't that complicated either, it was just like a shit load of adhesive.

Don't know if personal combat ones have been made yet, but like I said it probably wouldn't be too hard. Just in real life it doesn't make much sense. You aren't going to throw a grenade at someone 5 feet away from you trying to get it to stick to them.
