And I own both of those. Sleeping Dogs is an awesome game and it's probably the most recent major game they've offered.

February Games with Gold: “Dead Island” and “Toy Soldiers: Cold War”

Beginning Saturday, you can enjoy two more titles via the Xbox 360 Games with Gold program, available for free for a limited time*:

“Dead Island” ($19.99 ERP): Available from Feb. 1 – 16
“Toy Soldiers: Cold War” ($14.99 ERP): Available from Feb. 16 – 28

Experience a holiday paradise gone mad after a zombie outbreak in “Dead Island,” where the player’s only chance to survive is to escape from the island! “Dead Island” combines first-person action with a heavy focus on melee combat, character development and customization of a vast array of weapons. All of these features are presented in a dark zombie story with a campaign that can be played with up to four players in co-op mode.

And starting Sunday, Feb. 16, download “Toy Soldiers: Cold War.” Light up the toy box alone or jump into the fray with friends in a co-op campaign, enjoy hours of intense first-person combat combined with addictive action strategy gameplay. In this playful homage to '80s action toys and films, take control of a full arsenal of U.S. and Soviet units, base defenses, combat vehicles, jet fighters, assault helos and even commando action figures. “Toy Soldiers: Cold War” will keep you on the frontlines of frenetic fun as you battle to best your friends' scores in intense mini-games, test your mettle against waves of enemies in Survival mode or just have a blast blowing stuff up!

Is it just me or is Microsoft really falling short with the "Games with Gold" program?

Xbox Live Gold Members get Civilization Revolution and Dungeon Defenders Free in March

March’s set of free games for Xbox Live Gold Members in will be Sid Meier’s Civilization Revolution and Dungeon Defenders.

Starting Saturday (March 1st) Sid Meier’s Civilization Revolution (Normally US $29.99) will be free for Xbox Live Gold members through March 15th .

Then on March 16th, Xbox Live Gold Members can download Dungeon Defenders (Normally US $14.99) for free.

The “Games With Gold” program gives Xbox LIVE Gold Members 2 free games to keep each month. A new title will be available the 1st and 16th of each month.

LOL. Definitely not just you Bill. The program is pathetic.

Seriously LOL that Civ Rev is still $30 on Live. Wow. Isn't that game like seven years old?

Games with Gold hasn't exactly delivered the most relevant stuff. That being said though, both of those games are pretty great. Civ Rev is a ton of fun/time sink and a shockingly good port of a game that I didn't think could be played without a mouse.

Super Mario Bros is a great game, but that doesn't mean that if I'm paying a subscription to Nintendo that is what I want my free game to be. The bottom line is that this program absolutely has to be compared to it's competition, ie PS+. Hell, let;s be honest. GWG wouldn't exist if PS+ didn't before it. So it's laughable when you're getting Outlast, Resogun, Contrast, Don't Starve Tomb Raider, Metro Last Light, Binary Domain, Uncharted Golden Abyss, etc, etc, etc on Playstation platforms and this is the weak shit you get on Xbox. Not to mention these are just 360, one of which is always an ancient console game and the other a XBLA title, each moth. Yet with PS+ from day one you get fucking PS4 games. Whn can I expect XBone games on GWG? 2025?

One problem with GWG is that once you download it, you own it forever unlike PS+ where you only own it as long as you have a sub. Anyone can just pick up a 48 hours gold pass and own multiple free games every month. They need to change that.

Based on the games they've been offering for this program, I don't see anyone going out of their way to do that.

I've heard great things about both the games they're giving away this month. Old or not, most people haven't played them and could have months of free gaming without even paying for XBL or a single game.

Wow...easy killer. I was just saying that Civ Rev is a good game, despite what some people may think.

What people say it isn't good? I've always heard good things. But that doesn't change the fact that it's seven years old.

It just annoys me that month after month all they are doing is scraping the bottom of the barrel with this shit. It's sad that the best game to date has been Assassin's Creed 2.

And, is it just me or have a large majority of these GWG games been tower defense and RTS?

I don't mean that people have said that it was bad...just it gives off an impression of being a PC game. I think that you and I even talked about years back.

As for the free games being RTS or strategy...that's really interesting. I hadn't really thought about it, but it definitely seems to be the case. At least, lately. And I understand the frustration, although my guess is MS has the approach of gold being primarily for online gaming, and any free shit they can throw our way is just a bonus. Who knows.
