Guess who just got invited to the BF3 Pre-Alpha testing.
Still debating if Im gonna do it though. Since its a PC Alpha version. I have to decide pretty quick, as they said in the e-mail to do so. They also told me to shut my mouth if I did it. (Expected)Comment

Was pretty cool because they had a forum setup where you could report bugs and such.

The vid has footage from BC2 because of the NDA but the guy talks about what he's seen so far in the Preview.
[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6n07jsvz0wc&feature=player_embedded"]Audio Thoughts[/ame]
-COD mixed with BF: You die quicker but the game feels more like BF2
-Bullets generally hit targets better when you aim
-Less 'flinching' when you get tagged
-Hit detection is vastly improved; you only die at the same time as the dude you're shooting if you're trading shots at long range
-PC Users can use more than one key to run; Combo the S and D-Keys to run in that particular direction
-Going Prone actually improves gameplay
-Bunny Hopping will only cause jump length and height to decrease if you continue to do it
-Going Prone and getting back up takes a little bit to do; you can't dolphin dive on the regular
-Stealth knife kills require you to have the knife out and ready when you sneak up on some random
-Snipershakas, shotguns, Carl Gustav's feel more balanced as of now in the Beta
-The Class System works very well
-Camping is balanced somewhat with random audio cues; if you cap a sniper, his buddy will give away their position by shouting "Man Down, etc." letting you know where he is
-Spotting is back and anyone can do it, not just the Squad Leader; more accuracy is required though as you can't spam the spot keyComment

I'm not watching that whole thing, at least not now. Bit I did immediately notice that they included prone? Wha?!?
The more I play these games and the more I watch the videos for BF3 I honestly can not fathom why anyone would want to play any CoD game over Battlefield.

Console versions are getting cuts...
Speaking to Gamezone (via CVG), DICE head Patrick Bach said the console versions of Battlefield 3 will restrict the number of players allowed in multiplayer, down from 64 on PC to just 24.
"The biggest difference between the PC and console version of Battlefield 3 is that we have 64 players on PC and 24 players maximum on console," Bach said. "The rest is more or less the same: we use the same engine, the same technology, the same animation system, the same lighting system. Our aim is to give the player the exact same experience and not try to dumb down the console version.
"If you want the same quality of game, I would say it's really, really hard. We tried to get more players in [to the console version] but then you need to scale down all the graphics, scale down all the destructibility, and sometimes you need to scale down all the map sizes. Everything is a compromise on: where do you cut?
"You could argue that other games do [fewer] players as well. There are games that do less, and there are games that do more. We don't see games that have more players as a better experience, so having more players per se doesn't automatically give you a better experience."
Bach also outlined the differences in the game's maps between console and PC.
"More or less. When we say they are smaller, it's not that we have cut them in half. But we tried to compact them slightly to keep the action up. If you compare it to Battlefield: Bad Company 2, the maps weren't really small on console. We actually had huge maps even for console. We have the same kind of angle on it right now [in Battlefield 3].
We want to create the same experience for PC as for consoles."
Overreaction time...
The basic reaction to this is: Why are there less people on PS3 like XBox when the hardware can accompany more people online (Resistance 2 had up to 64 players on at once, same as MAG)?
Also, the maps were huge-ish online for BC2 (especially Oasis and Heavy Metal but those were big to begin with on BC1) but there's no telling how much was stripped away...Comment
