Didn't realize that calling any "zone" defence should render that play 100% ineffective.
So much for logic.Comment

It's the same flawed play. The LB breaks off the WR way too early and stands in no mans land to give up an easy TD.
There was never a problem with zone coverages and players staying in their zones, the issue is the retardation of the defenders breaking off when they should have kept with the receiver until a safety comes over top.Comment

I didn't know LBs can cover WR 20 yards downfield either..Comment

Yeah I guess I'd rather the LB not cover him and stay in zone instead of using common sense.
There has never been an issue with players covering their zone, except the flats, the issue is the lack of common sense and awareness of where they are on the field and who is around them. They said they fixed with players "handing" the player off to the next zone. But that doesn't work when the safeties are 5 yards away from the sideline and 5 yards deep in the endzone.Comment

Because the safety had THREE guys he had to cover. What do you expect? It was trips on the right side, Cover 2, meaning there is only 1 deep safety(covering that half the field) vs 3 streaking WR's on his side. He was "5 yards away from the sideline and 5 yards deep in the endzone" to be able to cover the outside WR(B button) and the WR(LB button) inside of the outside WR. No way he would be able to cover the inside slot WR(A button) too.
There wasn't any handing off because it wasn't possible. it was a good read by the user, he threw it right over the LB's head. Not too many LB's can keep up with WR's. That play seemed realistic to me.Comment

Half the problem is there's no pass rush so you can just chuck it deep every play. Also that it's easy to accurately throw deep.
Also I'm guessing since the field isn't the right size relative to the players it changes how fast wrs can get deep as well.Comment

The safeties are in the right position. I have no issue with that. The issue is the LB not continuing to run with the WR. He should realize nobody is over top and he should continue to cover the WR the best of his ability. Not stay in a zone with nobody in it and just let the WR run right by.
Obviously zone defense has flaws, and obviously the defender played that zone, but in a real game the LB will atleast back pedal with his eyes on the QB and trying to cover the WR. He shouldn't let the receiver run by into an uncovered middle of the field for a TD. He should have the common sense to stay with him until help comes.Comment

I'm not trying to make an excuse for the game, all i'm saying is that, it's just one play and, all things considered, looked fairly accurate.Comment

I'm just saying, to me it doesn't look like much got changed. I played NCAA 11 to death and had like 15 years of a dynasty, and I learned basically all exploits against the CPU, and 4 verticals would always cause the defense to act like retards. You can easily gain 10-40 yards every play if you know what to look for on a 4 vert play.
So when I see stuff like that I start to get skeptical if they fixed it at all.Comment
