I was lurking over at OS and I have a question as to why people are paying $100 to get this game early when they won't even be able to really use it until the rosters are done, which seems like it will be on Tuesday? People are insane.

Amazon is offering a $20 promotional credit for pre-orders. I already had $35 in my balance so it only cost $5, plus free release day shipping through prime.

Sounds like the typical EA demo. I worked on their QA team for a few releases just after college and the demo build is usually somewhere between Beta and gold.

I probably would have paid extra to get Madden or NCAA early when I was younger (like late grade school/early high school) when all I did in my free time was play Madden. I used to go stand in line and what not outside gamestop (at the time software etc) for the midnight release of Madden. I remember one year being on MM and someone announced Circuit City had put Madden 2002 for sale early on accident and driving frantically over there to get it.

I look back at that now and realize how dumb it was. Now I rarely ever even get a game on time. Way to much other shit going on in life to worry about getting a video game the minute it comes out. Way to many other expenses to pay extra to get it early. The other factor change since then is that both games went into the shitter for years and I'm not going out of my way or paying extra for a pile of shit.

I think the thing that shocks me still are the people who take days off of work for a video game. That seems absurd to me but to each their own.

Co-sign. I completely know what you talking about. I had a conversation yesterday with a co-worker about how I used to take days off when NCAA and Madden would drop. Those days are long gone, wife, 2 kids, house, lol, I wouldn't have time even if I wanted to nowadays.

                  According to CAG.com....

Target will be accepting NCAA 11 for a $20 credit towards NCAA 12 at their wireless phones kiosks (next to videogame aisles). It should be made known in their Sunday ad.

Finally got the game pre-ordered. I love having Amazon Prime for that free release-date delivery.

I also had a $20 credit from LA Noire, so I got it for $36.99.

I remember being at work one day and someone said that a local store was selling NCAA 05...this was the Friday before the release date. I jumped up, drove to the store, got the game and on my way back my radiator blew up and I had to call into to work and tell them that I wasn't going to be back until the next day. Now I had a blown radiator and a game that I couldn't even really play for another week because I didn't have rosters. That was the last time I went crazy over an early release date.

I would pay an extra $10 to have 2 weeks early....otherwise I wait like everyone else.... I actually enjoy the break I have from NCAA 2011....10 years of online dynasty...it is a daily task for 11 months.

lol...you saved 99 cents on release date delivery. I just pre-ordered it as well with release date delivery for 99 centss. I might use the $20 on Madden. $40 for Madden sounds decent to me.

Just DL'd the demo and played this morning. I like the game. Animations look more natural/fluid. Defense seems like it is playable this year. I only played one game. 'Bama/FSU, I won 7-3 with Alabama.

I also like the addition of the coaching carousel this year. That seems really cool. I would have to actually put in the names of the coaches though. I couldn't deal with generic coaches. It would be too hard to follow their career if they ever left multiple schools.

A few of us for NHL do this. Leaf, myself, KG, Krebs, a few others maybe. For me and leaf it is fairly easy as we both work from home. I don't care for mid-night release or getting it early. I'll still play the ever living fuck out of the game, and having it 1-3 days earlier isn't going to make a difference. Though I have this one kid in a sim league I'm in for hockey who wants to drive 2 hours for midnight release, so 4 hrs there and back just to get it early. I really burst his bubble because he lives in the West, so I said by the time he gets home and puts the game in, I'll be waking up in 2 hours and get the game myself. lol
All you need to know when thinking of the NHL vs Madden series is the two people involved in making the games.

                                "rammer" and "cummings"

The NHL series is a giver, Madden takes the load.
