    [3DS] My Wii is dead!

No, not that one, the one you play Mario and Zelda games on. Get your mind out of the gutter people!

So, while I was away on vacation apparently there was a pretty bad storm that rolled through the area that knocked out the power for several hours. When I get home my DirecTv receiver wouldn't even power on. I had to unplug it and re-plug it in for it to reboot and start working again. My other devices; 360, PS3, receiver and stereo all powered on fine. I never checked the Wii and didn't even notice until today, when I went to play DKCR, that the standby light wasn't even on. I've unplugged it and plugged it into several different outlets and nothing.

Does anyone know anyone/place that repairs these things? I'm guessing Nintendo will charge an arm and a leg. Not to mention my game is stuck in the system.

I swear, I've asked this before but it still pisses me off, what the fuck is the point of a surge protector if it doesn't protect against surges. The surge protector it was plugged into wasn't cheap either.

surge protector probably did its job. it more than likely took the brunt of the wave of electricity. what you need is a ups, uninterrupted power supply i would recommend this for all of your electronic gadgets tv, game consoles, cable boxes. as for your wii, cant help ya man. what if you plugged the power cord into the wii and held the power button.....i am grasping at straws.

Take it out in the back yard and play real Wii golf with it.

Crisis averted! Thanks you Nintendo online customer service!

For once, because I swear the tips these sites give you never work, ths shit actually did. The site said that the power converter probably needed to be "reset" which required it being unplugged from the outlet and the Wii for two minutes. Sure enough, back in business!

Thanks for the tip though Tig. I need to look into that.

I actually had something similar to that hooked up to my old computer. The brand was Power (something). I only had it for maybe two years and had a big storm that fried it. They actually sent me a brand new one fro free but that fried after three years and just out of warranty.

Edit: This looks like the newest model of what I had. Needless to say I won't be buying one of those again. The brand is CyberPower.

Check your surge protector for some kind of warranty. I have an APC and I am pretty sure they guarantee against shit like this and you may be able to file a claim with them!
