I believe sarcasm can't be expressed without the proper smiley. It just doesn't work with just text. Jay hasn't grasped that concept yet.

I've listened to a few of your podcasts, and they aren't bad. My problem is that you guy's have no real inside info, so I have no true incentive to listen. I barely listen to videogame podcasts as it is, and if I do it is occasionally the Giant Bomb one, which is a chore in and of itself, but at least these are guy's with years of experience in the industry who can actually break or at least allude to really exclusive shit.
Not to be harsh but: you're basically a bunch of dudes that I don't know talking about video games in the same way that I talk to my friends about them. That kills the will for me to listen, personally.
All of that sad, I certainly wish you all the best, but I think that some of the people here who may be trolling perhaps meant something more along those lines. Essentially, what are you guys telling me that I don't already know? I feel bad for putting it that way, but if you really want to make this podcast thing work, I think that you need to find a more unique approach. Simply going through the new releases and such is already done by so many others that have so much insider info than you guys have -- how can you compete unless you find a niche?
Just my .02, while we're all discussing it.Comment

Quite simply, we aren't industry professionals. We have no exclusive access.
This is a way for us to help others here become interested in games that they may have not heard about and/or been on the fence for. I imagine you would listen because you value our experience and opinions.
We're going to hate on things because that's what we do, but I think we provide some good insight that some of you guys may feel a little closer to since we're from here in the community.Comment

maynards contribution to the 1st podcasts were...to be honest, forgetable ..like the 1st few podcasts were when the group was still finding it's groove ...maynard's inclusion in the 1st[few?] podcasts seems like a trivia question at this point
the podcast crew that has included knubb and burnt has made these podcasts very entertaining since E3, its a group dynamic that has some chemistry where laughs are shared and they tlk about video games and blast some Fugees with twigg's dogs barking in the backround....Comment

Certainly a valid argument. And worded much better than many of these other guys have attempted to.

But please, and I'm dead serious, don't hesitate to give us some interesting topics to talk about that aren't beaten to death by the big sites. Jay busts his ass coming up with topics so I'm sure he would appreciate any suggestions from the community. That way we all win. Jay can get more sleep and we can discuss things that you guys want to hear.Comment

Well put Brnt. We obviously can't compare with the big dogs but I don't think we should. I think our "niche" is that we ARE guys you know, whether its just from the site or not. I remember Hackett specifically saying that he valued our opinions on games over those guys from the big sites which is really cool. Personally I would like to go more in depth about the games we play, as JMS eluded to, but then I have a feeling I would end up bogarting the entire podcast. I can blather with the best of them but I'm sure that isn't what people want.

And as far as giving you guys interesting topics to talk about...I'm too boring for that. I wish I had more ideas. That said though, if I did, I would start my own damn podcast with those ideas. Which I would bet anyone that had an interesting idea would also do. So maybe you guys should brainstorm about some of this shit (for Jay's health at least) You're all very smart guys...just fuck around until you come up with something if you're serious about this shitComment

Apparently I'm dying because of this Podcast now. :ionno:Comment

i posted my opinion already. call it bitter, trivial, cynical or trolling...i dont care. But the fact that those terms are used to describe an opinion should tell you something about your views of your own efforts
knubb asks for feedback. i post a thought and he counters by saying its trolling. he might as well be a mod at OS cause thats how they operate.
A semi negative thought is made...jay counters with its a beef.
I make my comment about you and knubb, you counter with asscheek flapping.
you dont want to read opinions. you want people like medelin to kiss you ass and tell you how great your doing so u will plug his whatever he has. you dont want real feedback or criticism...and you really cant handle it anyways.
the podcast sucks. there is absolutely no reason for anyone to listen to it. there is nothing you guys can say factually that i cant read 2 weeks ago. you opinions on topics offer no value or insight. You semi review games weeks later...but its nothing more then what gets said in posts on this forum. your discussions are long and boring and its more a less a circle of babbling.
Its a pointless effort for a pointless website. So we cant expect much anyways. again, i think jay is a good host and twigg has something to offer but the 4 of you together is painful to listen toComment

I mentioned "asscheek flapping" as a general response to the poor feedback given (outside of SethMode). This is the first post you've made with actual reasoning besides (and I'm paraphrasing) 'you guys suck'.
As for me not wanting feedback, please stop lying. I just want feedback that's relevant and worthwhile.
What I can't handle is a bunch of posturing and, as I put it before, "asscheek flapping". If you have something to say and can actually back it up with solid reasoning and assertions, by all means, tell me. But if you don't, just shut up.
I am going to now do a sentence-by-sentence breakdown of your post, FirstTimer-style.
Nothing constructive mentioned.
Nothing constructive mentioned.
Nothing constructive mentioned.
Should I apologize for not getting games early like professional gaming journalists?
So, all in all, the majority of your post lacks any real content. Here's the breakdown:
- 33% of your sentences (3/9) say absolutely nothing
- 22% of your sentences are (at least partially) incorrect (2/9)
- 44% of your sentences are subjective takes on the podcast and VSD with no actual thoughts on how to improve.
I'll give you the 44%, but that's still a failing grade.
EDIT: I will say, this is certainly the longest-running podcast thread we've ever had.Comment
