The only reason I have somewhat of a problem with you guys waiting around rather than just playing each other is because it allows other guys to slack. They see that other guys haven't played, why should they rush to play? They'll play when the others have gotten their games in.
It just makes everyone slow to play their games. And what if everyone has the same attitude as you two, "we are always on so there's no need for us to play each other." What if I started doing that in every tournament I was in, "I'm always online so I'm just going to wait for everyone else in my division to play each other first before I get any games in."
It's just not helping. You are both two of the bigger NHL fans and more active NHL gamers in the community so one would think that you guys would be setting examples rather than encouraging others to slack off.
