does ps4 require you to pay for their online service? if not, then thats not a surprise. If they do then I am shocked PS4 wouldnt require a paid subscription to their online service to play this game on the ps4
seems retarded to buy internet, buy console, buy online subscription to console service, buy game, buy monthly subscription to play game online.
I 100% agree that anyone that would be interested in playing this game online would already have a subscription to either service so it would be a moot point. What's ridiculous is that M$ refuses to bend on any of their archaic and bullshit policies that force everything behind a pay wall.
But who knows? Maybe there will be that small percentage of people that buy a PS4 just for a bluray player and this game. If that's the case all they will have to pay is the monthly subscription. Which, I'd be wiling to bet will go free soon enough, just like almost every single other MMO (not named WoW) over the past decade.Comment

yes i am familiar. what i am not familiar with is the PS4 online pay subscription. PS4 does now charge to play games online, so the fact that they are not forcing people to be a PS+ member to play this game online is shocking. for whatever reason, they have chosen to allow ESO players to use the PS online service for no charge when playing this one game. Why give it away when they dont have to.Comment

Elder Scrolls is big enough to not dump the subscription. Star Wars was the same way, but the problem with The Old Republic was that there wasn't nearly enough end-game content for hardcore MMO users. Those guys were the ones paying the subscription in 90% of cases. Now they have a good amount of end-game content, including two planets for players that are beyond the end of their storyline, plus a quest-line for a hidden character, but the hardcore MMO players have moved on and aren't coming back.
If ESO took that lesson to heart and they have the end-game content, folks will pay that subscription and we won't see it go free. If they made the same mistake, it will be free in a year or 18 months.Comment

Whereas MS has a track record of not giving a fuck.Comment

i guess i have lost touch with the console gamers. i just dont get it anymore. why people would spend $500 for a console, then pay for games, then pay to play those games online. You could pay $750 for a quality gaming PC that is 10x better than the consoles, pay for your games, then play online for free. plus get access to all that other bullshit that you pay for on the consoles (netflix, social media, ect)
with an MMO you will pay that company subscription either way. But at least on a pc u get better games, free online play and 9/10 times a price point that is lower. plus all the mods.Comment
