They were pretty busy with a little game called World of Warcraft...

I'm pretty sure all of their development resources weren't tied up just keeping the servers up and releasing a few expansion packs for as game that released in, what, 2003?

I know they released that other Star-something game too, but come on.

having tons of loot does not make a game deep. it just means it has a ton of loot.

D3 is about as over hyped as games come. there is nothing special about it. graphics, story, are pretty lame. the loot only now got good after 2 years of the community telling them how shitty of a game it is.

as for the gameplay...meh....torchlight 2 is fun and if you really want a true follow up to D2 play path of exile. not only does PoE blow away D3 in every way, its also completely free to play

You gotta remember Blizzard was a small private company at first. It took years and years to finally roll out WoW to the world. I think 7 years total. They did not have stock holders and they moved at the sound of their own horn. The released Diablo 3 and any other title when they wanted to and not when stockholders demanded it. The people that bitch and complain about Diablo 3 are the people playing for 100's of hours. The game sold 15M...I don't games sell that much based on hype.

It is like Valve not releasing Half Life 2 Episode 2/Half Life 3. If they released it next year would you say they were working in it for 10 years? No.

this game sold based on the diablo 2 reputation. 7 mil in sales its first week.

i sure didnt play it for 100 hours and i thought the game was below average especially considering all the hype it received. i find it to be all that fun and thought its systems were boring. the loot was all auction house shit so for a game that boasts loot drops, it didnt offer much by way of crawling for loot. but thats all info already known

i just think this game loses more points when you have a 100% free to play game that is 100 times better and more fun

have you played since the new patch maynard? it really did improve the game exponentially. its essentially "fixed" the most glaring issues of the game. blizzard admitting how huge of a mistake and getting rid of the real money auction house (something they themselves were making money off of) shows how serious they were in improving the game. i have played torchlight 2 and enjoyed it but i still like diablo more. i have not tried path of exile yet.

im not sure of the exact numbers but im sure a huge chunk of people have come back to diablo and will be getting the new expansion. i did regret buying into the hype and paying 65 dollars for diablo at launch but now i can say i really do enjoy the game.

New patch is incredible. It made me no longer think twice about getting the DLC. Have you ever seen a tank demon hunter, cuz I ended up making one by accident and it is awesome

i still cant find a compelling reason to reinstall this game. if i want to play a cool dungeon crawler i can pop in torchlight 2 or path of exile. the sad thing is that paid 60 bucks for d3 and still would rather play these other games.

I know your feelings on this, but Adventure mode and Loot runs are complete game changers.

I cannot stop playing. If anyone is mildly interested I suggest giving the game another shot with the new loot fix. If that hooks you then go ahead and buy the expansion so you can get sucked into Adventure mode. I really can't stop playing.

Edit: Actually, it looks like the RoS expansion is not coming out for PS3/360. Oh well.
