Metal Gear Solid 5 is The Phantom Pain and Ground Zeroes in one game

Hideo Kojima showed a new trailer for Metal Gear Solid 5 at the start of his Game Developers Conference talk about the developer's next-generation Fox Engine. The trailer ended with logos for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, indicating Metal Gear Solid 5's intended platforms, but Kojima said the game is currently running on PC.

This is confusing as shit. Yesterday places were saying that Phantom Pain and Ground Zeroes were the same game, today it's a different story...

Konami confirms Ground Zeroes will be prologue to Phantom Pain; platforms not specified.

"Ground Zeroes and The Phantom Pain are two separate games," a Konami representative told GameSpot today. "Ground Zeroes will actually be a prologue to The Phantom Pain, and that's all we can share at this time."

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is confirmed for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, though platforms for Ground Zeroes have not been specified. It is also unclear if both games will be bundled in the same package or offered as two different releases. Release dates also have not been divulged.

Longtime Snake and Big Boss voice actor David Hayter has not been asked to reprise his role in Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.

Konami and Kojima need to get their shit together and just come out and explicitly explain what the hell the plan is because Konami reps are saying that Ground Zeroes and The Phantom Pain are two separate games now.

Contrary to what Kojima said during the GDC panel today, Konami has confirmed with Joystiq that Ground Zeroes and Metal Gear Solid V: Phantom Pain are indeed separate games.

Earlier today, Kojima Productions announced that Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes and The Phantom Pain together make up Metal Gear Solid V. This made it sound like the two are the same game, but this isn’t actually the case.

We got in touch with Konami to ask just what the deal is with the two titles, and the publisher’s Director of Public Relations, Jay Boor, informed us that they are in fact two separate games.

“Ground Zeroes and The Phantom Pain are two separate games,” Boor clarified to Siliconera via e-mail. “GZ will be a prologue to The Phantom Pain.”

Meanwhile, on Twitter, Hideo Kojima writes: “’Ground Zeroes’ is a prologue of ‘MGSV’. 9 years after that event will be ‘The Phantom Pain’. MGSV is constructed w/ prologue and main game ‘TPP’. The game play demo I presented today is the opening of ‘TPP’ which is tutorial that starts from crawling.”

Update: When we pressed Boor for further details and asked if both The Phantom Pain and Ground Zeroes are for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, he replied: “Can’t comment on the SKUs unfortuantely [sic]. TPP is definitely 360 and PS3 though.”

Update 2: We got in touch with Boor again, this time asking if the two games will be part of the same package or on the same disc. He replied: “Can’t confirm at this time”.

I don't think that is Snake. I believe that is Big Boss

I heard some rumors and such that even though the snakes are clones, it would be weird for them all to have the exact same voice (dont forget liquid is a clone too) even though big boss was voiced by hayter in MGS3. I guess they're going with a new voice, but probably not too far removed from Hayter, to give it some variety. But yeah, no hayter involvement is gonna be weird.

It'll be a bit odd without Hayter, but they didn't have him voicing Big Boss at the end of MGS4 either.
