Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes Pre-Order Bonuses Announced
Along with news that your save will carry over to Phantom Pain.
Originally posted by IGNKonami has announced Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes pre-order bonuses and also revealed actions performed in the prologue title will affect the story of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain proper.
Anyone who pre-orders Ground Zeroes will receive receive exclusive content, including Mother Base Staff for use with the Mother Base in Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.
While introduced during the events of Ground Zeroes, the Mother Base is set to play a central role in Phantom Pain. Konami has promised that the exclusive Mother Base items obtained via pre-order will give gamers "a key advantage" when they start Phantom Pain. Seeing as it's the central hub where you'll be building new armaments and storing weapons, this sounds pretty useful.
Additionally, it's been confirmed that player's actions during Ground Zeroes will carry over onto your Phantom Pain save. For example, characters rescued will be available within The Phantom Pain. Actions performed in the prologue game will also have repercussions at the conclusion of the follow-up.
Finally, Konami has also announced iDroid: an app available on iOS, Android and Smartglass systems that acts as a second game screen and unlocks new options for you. It can show a map of the world or summon air support, while cassettes found in the game can be played via it. It also provides access to global rankings for mission success.
iDroid will be compatible with both current and next-gen versions of the game, and it'll also allow you to remotely build the Mother Base.Comment

And now that it's release day (which I didn't realize until just the other day) I feel like I want this game. Apparently TRU is offering it for $26 plus a $10 gift card. Assuming Best Buy actually has any PS4 copies it would be sweet if they could price match that. I know when NCAA 14 released they just pm'd by dropping the price the value of the gift card. The only problem is that for some reason the PS4 version has been "Unavailable" for quite some time on Best Buy's site. Apparently they sold out of pre-orders quite some time ago. The other versions are still available. I'm just wondering if I went into a BB today if they might have some extra copies?Comment

Apparently people on Gamefaqs are saying that their Best Buy had extra copies. But the $26.99 price posted on CAG was due to some coupon (10% off I assume as I can't get it to show up) so I know BB won't pm the coupon and gift card. Plus the gift card deal is in-store only apparently. So I'd have to try to get a flyer from TRU before hitting BB. Ugh.Comment

Seems like everyone is saying that the game itself is awesome, but not worth $30-40 for an hour of gameplay in one playthrough.
I'm torn on picking this up. MGS is my favorite series of all time, but $40 is a little steep for, at most, 4 hours of gameplay.Comment

They slashed the $40 price point for next-gen physical copies a few weeks ago. $30 now, and Toys R Us is selling it for $26 with a $10 gift card.Comment

Ground Zeros took me just under 1.5 hours to beat the main mission, which I could easily get down to an hour now that I know where I'm supposed to go. First and foremost, this is most definitely a MGS title. They haven't really fucked with the formula in any major way, which is encouraging because every other game has been near perfection.
The side missions are fun. I still have two to beat, which should only take another hour or so. Each side mission has taken me anywhere from 15 to 30 minutes, to give you an idea of how these compare to the main story. Considering how short everything is, I can definitely see myself getting a platinum in this game without having to spend an absurd amount of time.
Final verdict: buying this for $30 really depends on how big of a fan you are of the series. If you're only a casual fan, I'd wait until this drops to at least $15, if not cheaper.Comment

Does it have a platinum? I thought saw people bitching on PSTrophies.org and CAG that it didn't?Last edited by Twigg4075; 03-19-2014, 07:44 AM.Comment
