Still debating on picking this up tonight/tomorrow. Might have to rent it first.

Notre Dame's helmets still look like shit at night and during overcast games on PS3 from the pics being posted over at OS. Same with F$U's. Awesome job EA.Comment

They look a tad better at night, but really look sweet during the day. NCAA has had problems with the lightning fucking up colors for years, hopefully next-gen can really get this down.Comment

I think this game has improved, but the CPU AI keeps me from buying it Tuesday. I have played four full games and simply feel no pull to it. If you're an NCAA fanatic, absolutely pick it up. If you're not, save the expensive rental until Madden comes out.
There is a lot of good in this game, but the CPU AI (especially on offence) tells me it simply isn't worth my $70 after taxes. I'll wait for Madden.
The other is that stupid Madden 13 thing where if you accidentally bump into one of your offensive linemen, it's like you stepped on a landmine. I'm sorry, but that's unacceptable in the 2.0 version of the Infinity Engine.
Presentation is another turnoff. Pathetic effort. I still miss Coach Corso. At least he sounded enthusiastic.
The other is player stats. I shouldn't have to scroll through 20 screens to see key player stats in 2013. One screen should show all the key player stats.
But, again, if you're a diehard NCAA guy ... no reason not to buy this game.My Twitch video link: http://www.twitch.tv/dave374000

What are your gripes with the CPU AI in particular, dave?
I like that the CPU can really run the ball this year, especially the QB, but there are some dumb annoyances that I wish would be fixed. Late game management is still questionable for me and I hope some of these things will be patched correctly.Comment

The zone D in this game is incredibly bad. Frankly, I'd never call zone D ever.My Twitch video link: http://www.twitch.tv/dave374000

zone works the closer you get to the endzone and if they throw deep all the time, 3 and 4 deep zones do the job. I don't use man defense because I don't want defenders standing alone and or just chasing receiversComment

This was by far the best NCAA game, IMO. Turning HFA off was a must but without a doubt the most realistic challenge mounted by a CPU with default sliders in the game's history -- I was able to run Heisman default sliders and get great results, only had to turn INTs down -- and the dynasty mode was just deep enough to be engrossing without being overly time consuming or tedious like the recruiting has been on next-gen.Comment

I agree that the dynasty mode was the perfect level of "immersion". Recruiting was interesting, yet you could get the whole offseason done in 30-60 minutes. I don't need to waste my real life time "talking on the phone" to a 1-star kicker from Bradenton, Florida.Comment

HFA is kind of overkill with the momentum factor also in play. I leave HFA on when I'm the road team for a good challenge, but I turn it off once I trail by more than 2 TDs, because then you can't even down a kick in the endzone without a fumble happening.

It's fun to get "attached" to guys and watch their careers. So you want to go through multiple seasons and recruiting cycles quickly and generate a nice catalog of "recruits" ... But in the current gen it's maddening when you can't even get through a bye week in less than 30 minutes if you actually call every player manually, and even using quick call it takes a good 20.
Shit is just laborious.Comment

Yeah and the thing with recruiting, at least with how I play the game, is that it gets more interesting with further advancement. It's kind of like reading a long book in that the first 100 pages (first 2-3 years of dynasty) are a grind but once you reach the tipping point, it takes off.
