I am getting better at using my dodge and evade moves. I went into that battle a bit light on supplies since I didn't expect it. That won't happen again.

Cleric Beast wasnt as bad as i thought it was going to be.
i had a much harder time with Father Gascione. he has been the hardest fight until the Boss fight i am at now - the 3 Shadow Yarhman.

Okay well, for the Madman's Knowledge thing, I touched on that on my post on a previous page that I think you might have missed:

Insight is gained as the player progresses through the game, defeats enemies, and finds new areas.
◾ Entering a boss area for the first time grants +1 Insight.
◾ Entering Iosefka's Clinic through the back door grants +1 Insight.
◾ Entering the Abandoned Old Workshop grants +2 Insight.
◾ Entering Yahar'gul, Unseen Village after being killed by a Death Dealer grants +1 Insight.
◾ Entering the Cainhurst Castle grounds grants +2 Insight.
    ◾ Defeating a boss grants +3 Insight.
◾ Defeating a boss in another player's world grants +1 Insight.
    ◾ Consuming a Madman's Knowledge grants +1 Insight.
    ◾ Consuming a Great One's Wisdom grants +2 Insight.
◾ Consuming One Third of Umbilical Cord grants +3 Insight.
◾ Sending an NPC to Iosefka's Clinic or Oedon Chapel grants +1 Insight.
◾ Killing an adversarial host player grants +1 Insight.

Easiest way is to just enter the Mad Cleric boss fight, or find a Madman's Knowledge. The downside with the boss fight is, you will probably die and thus lose any souls that you have.
A Madman's Knowledge is an item just like any other. So you would go through your consumables and if you have one, use it, then return to the Hunter's Dream, and the doll should be awake (if you're in the Hunter's Dream, I believe you have to leave and then come back for her to activate).

As for the rest: armor boosts your stats, as you'll see based on the blue numbers when you're looking at a new set. My point was simply that it's much more worth it to spend souls on levels than armor (new armor will appear in the store throughout the game). It's not a bad decision, like I said, but if you want to really start to get into the meat of the game, your absolute number 1 priority should be to get a +1 insight and start leveling up. Also, just so you know as well, most of the armor in the game is found anyway. Again, it wasn't a bad decision on your part to buy that first set, because your starting stuff blows. This is more food for thought in the future.

Not to sound like a dick, but I'm not sure what about the rest of it you aren't clear on. Basically more damage is always better, and you do more damage by leveling up. If you're confused about the frames of animation that you're invincible in...you basically learn by doing what you can get away with as far as dash-stepping through enemy attacks. If you have a question about parrying...basically, same deal, only in this case, you want to use your gun just before the enemy attacks. Doing so will stagger them, and allow you to do a melee attack for a huge amount of damage in some cases (called a visceral attack). This kind of stuff is better seen than told, so I'd recommed just practicing until you do it a few times, or looking up a Youtube video or stream.

Basically, the armor in the game, while having its benefits, and having some that are better than others, is mostly cosmetic, because no matter how high your stats if you aren't dodging/parrying (i.e. - you're taking hits) you're going to die...a lot.

More damage in this game is always a positive...and until you start upgrading weapons, the best way to boost your damage is to boost your levels, so get that Insight point and activate the doll!

Final thing that you may have noticed. Your little sidestep dash thing (THE most important move in the game) has fairly obvious frames of invincibility. Take your time through deaths, hits, etc...to learn this window, as it is invaluable.
    Basically that

nice - it gets to be more fun and challenging, that is for sure.
explore as much as possible while trying to avoid death, lol.

i leveled strength, health and endurance in that order until i hit lvl 55?
then i just went all Strength.
