Clippers To Sign Guard McCants
The Los Angeles Clippers today signed free agent guard Rashad McCants to a one-year deal worth roughly $1.20 million.
McCants has averaged 10.0 points and 2.0 rebounds in four NBA seasons with Sacramento and Minnesota.
“Rashad is a multi-talented player who can play several positions for us,” said Clippers Vice President of Basketball Operations and Head Coach Mike Dunleavy. “He is very versatile offensively and is able to stretch the defense with his perimeter shooting.”
McCants declared for the NBA Draft following his championship year at North Carolina, and was selected by the Minnesota Timberwolves with the fourteenth overall pick in the 2005 NBA Draft. He enjoyed his most productive season in 2007-2008, when he averaged 14.9 points per game shooting 40% from the three.
“We are extremely pleased with the signing of Rashad McCants,” stated Clippers Assistant Head Coach John Lucas. “We feel his ability to play as a scoring two and as a mobile one gives us the versatility that is a must for a team that wants to compete for an NBA championship.”
McCants will wear #7.
