Georgia's Offense Is Too Much!
AJ Green had a career game at Neyland Stadium.
We are now at the halfway mark of the regular season and Georgia is still undefeated. In fact, they have looked better as the season passes. Caleb King and AJ Green are dominant. Cox is decent enough to win. They are focused. This is the team we expected last year. A great all around team.
Against the Volunteers, Georgia's offense was very balanced and unstoppable. Joe Cox threw for almost 300 yards and the Dawgs rushed for over 220 yards. Georgia's two stars, Caleb King and AJ Green, shined brightest with 23 rushes for 177 yards and 6 receptions for 162 yards respectively.

Mark Richt Post-Game Press Conference
Reporter:How does it feel to beat your rival Tennessee?
Mark Richt: It always feels great to beat a rival. This one did feel a little bit sweeter with all the Kiffin drama this preseason. I really liked the way we played. We played with heart and emotion and that is all I can ask for really. Still, it would feel better to beat Florida after what they did last year.
Reporter: What kind of changes do you plan on making in the 2nd half of the season?
Mark Richt: Well we are trying to make our offense more balanced. I've always beleived a balanced offense is key. I felt that way when I was at Florida State and I still do. We started out the year run heavy. It wasn't that we didn't trust Joe [Cox], it was more he just needed a little more time to get customed to speed. I didn't want to throw him to the wolves to start the season against two great teams in Oklahoma State and South Carolina. Luckily, Caled [King] carried us for that first stretch of games. But yeah, every game we seem to increase the more pass plays for Joe [Cox]. I think by the end of the year you will be surprised at how far we progressed.
Reporter: Are you confident that Joe Cox can lead this team to the NC?
Mark Richt: There is no doubt in my mind he could. I also beleive Logan Gray and our two freshman quarterbacks could too. That is not because I am overconfident but I believe in everyone of my players. We are 6-0 right now with Cox and I have full trust we can continue this success.
Reporter: What do you really think about Lane Kiffin, do you think he will last at Tennessee?
Mark Richt: I'm not one to really judge that. It's not my place but I do know that he is one heck of a recruiter which is mandatory to remain in the SEC. He has started off slow at 2-4 but I won't make judgement until he gets his own players in there.
Reporter: Have you put any thought about putting in one of those young guns at qb?
Mark Richt: Not really. I just believe in Cox that much. I believe they all would do great but Cox earned his time. He could have transferred but he stayed to play his Senior year. He hasn't given me any reason to doubt him yet. My goal is for Cox to start this year, Gray to start next year, and then Murray and Mettenberger to battle for that spot their sophomore years. That is why I redshirted them both.
Reporter: How do you think AJ Green has progressed from last season to this season?
Mark Richt: He is definately more mature. Last year he either had a really big game or was kind of quiet. This year he constantly draws double teams so he is used as decoys sometimes. He is also much more of a leader. Last year MoMass [Mohamed Massoquoia] was the leader of the receiving corp. His stats may not be better but he as a player is definitivley better.
Reporter: Who is the most underrated team in the SEC this season in your mind?
Mark Richt: I would have to say Kentucky. They are 4-1 and 2-1 in conference and are not ranked. They beat a very good Florida team and killed a solid South Carolina team. They got beat by 33 points by Alabama but Alabama is ranked 2nd in the nation. You can't tell me some teams in the top 25 have a better resume than that.
Reporter: Do you think your players will be ready for the Florida game coming up?
Mark Richt: Our team better be or we all know what will happen. Urban Meyer has a great team that is very scary to play. We have to come ready and play like we are meant to be there. We played that way in 2007 and won. We didn't play that way last year and well............ yeah.
Reporter: Give us some feedback on the top recruits on your board, do you think they'll be able to help right away if they were to commit to UGA?
Mark Richt: We are really close to landing some major recruits. Brandon Young, Titus Ryan,Clarence Brown, and Frank Wesley are all five-star recruits that we expect to committ soon. Our goal this year was to load up on the lines. Our skill positions are very young so playing time will be tough. We could always use depth and then they will sign in a couple of years. If I had to pick one to start right away it would be Clarence Brown. Our Free Safety Bryan Evans is graduating this year so Brown (the number one rated free-safety in his class) may have a chance at starting.
Reporter: Who in your mind is the best team in all of college football right now?
Mark Richt: Right now I would have to say Oklahoma. They are killing everybody they play and the average margin of victory is over 20 points so far. They have a big game this week against third ranked Texas that will show if they are as good as I believe.
