Chargers Score on Final Drive to Win the Game
Chargers Score on Final Drive to Win the Game
(6-2) - 17 @ 20 - (6-2)
Recap:
San Diego's defense did an amazing job defending the run, holding Philadelphia's star running back Brian Westbrook to -2 yards on eight carries. They also forced Michael Vick to fumble on the goal line, saving a touchdown. Despite the great defense by the Chargers, the Eagles led for most of the game. However, on the final drive, Philip Rivers led the Chargers down the field and capped off the drive with a LaDainian Tomlinson touchdown. This would eventually prove to be the game decider.

Ellis Hobbs Forced to Miss Two Weeks
Ellis Hobbs Forced to Miss Two Weeks
Ellis Hobbs tore his shoulder labrum against the Chargers.
Cornerback Ellis Hobbs of the Philadelphia Eagles has sustained a torn shoulder labrum, and he will be forced to miss an estimated two weeks.
Hobbs has played well for Philadelphia so far this year, making 17 tackles, recording three sacks, and intercepting two passes. Joselio Hanson will step in to fill Hobbs' spot.
Around the league, the Pittsburgh Steelers have lost quarterback Ben Roethlisberger for four weeks due to a torn quadricep, and wide receiver Santonio Holmes for the rest of the season due to a fractured hip.Comment

6-3 Bears Await the Eagles
6-3 Bears Await the Eagles
Matt Forte is an explosive threat for Chicago.
The 6-3 Philadelphia Eagles will be traveling to Soldier Field in Chicago to face off against the Bears, who are also 6-3.
The Bears acquired quarterback Jay Cutler in the off-season, a young stud with a big arm. However, Cutler has been streaky so far this season, throwing a large number of interceptions. If Philadelphia can get in Cutler's face, he will most likely make some poor decisions.
This is a matchup of two of the NFC's best teams. Winner of this game will be making a statement to the rest of the league.Comment

Eagles Defeat Bears; Lose Westbrook for the Rest of the Year
Eagles Defeat Bears; Lose Westbrook for the Rest of the Year
(6-3) - 24 @ 17 - (6-3)
Recap:
The Eagles' offense looked sharp today, with good production from both Donovan McNabb and Michael Vick at quarterback. Halfback Brian Westbrook was playing well too until he was tackled in the second quarter, breaking his tibia. It was concluded that Westbrook would be forced to sit out the remainder of the season, so rookie backup LeSean McCoy was put in to replace him. McCoy played well scoring two touchdowns on the day. The Eagles advanced to 7-3 with the win, but wins will be harder and harder to come by without Westbrook.

The Impact of Westbrook's Injury
The Impact of Westbrook's Injury
Brian Westbrook will be forced to miss the remainder of the season.
Eagles' running back Brian Westbrook sustained a broken tibia in Sunday's game against the Chicago Bears, and he will be forced to sit out the remainder of the season.
Westbrook finished his year with 675 yards on 135 rushing attempts, 42 receptions, 313 receiving yards, and four total touchdowns. His backup, rookie LeSean McCoy, has a very similar playing style to Westbrook, putting up a nice balance of rushing and receiving yards.
While the Eagles' coaching staff seems confident in the rookie McCoy, this injury could mean the end of Philadelphia's Super Bowl dreams for this year. The Birds stand at 7-3, but without their best playmaker, the offense is a lot less dynamic.
The Eagles will most likely look in to free agency for another running back, because the only two active backs on the roster are McCoy and Lorenzo Booker.Comment

Eagles Sign Running Back Bell to One-Year Deal
Eagles Sign Running Back Bell to One-Year Deal
Tatum Bell became the newest Eagle.
The Philadelphia Eagles filled a need for a new running back by signing Tatum Bell to a one-year deal worth about $870k.
Bell had stints with both the Denver Broncos and the Detroit Lions before landing in Philadelphia. His best season came in 2005 when he rushed for 920 yards. Bell is probably known best for an incident a year ago in which he alledgedly attempted to steal items from fellow teammate Rudi Johnson's bag.
Bell has decent hands, so he will fit right in to the Eagle's offensive system. He will see a signifigant amount of playing time for the rest of the year due to an injury to running back Brian Westbrook that has sidelined him for the rest of the season.Comment
