Hobbs to Take Over as Return Man

Hobbs to Take Over as Return Man

Cornerback Ellis Hobbs will become the Philadelphia Eagles' new kick returner and punt returner.

The previous return men were starting safety Quintin Demps and star wide receiver DeSean Jackson. To avoid risking injury, Hobbs will get the job.

nah not really, i get him like 10-12 snaps per game, and mcnabb came in third for mvp voting, no need to give him less time.

Did the Eagles Take a Step Back in the Off-Season?

Did the Eagles Take a Step Back in the Off-Season?

The Philadelphia Eagles finished the season at 13-3 last season and failed to repeat as Super Bowl champions after losing to the 11-5 Arizona Cardinals in the divisional round of the NFC playoffs last year.

The NFL off-season is a time at which teams can look to better their squads by making big signing, re-signings or trades. The question is, did the Eagles get better or worse in this year's off-season.

Philadelphia was unable to re-sign star defensive tackle Brodrick Bunkley, who racked up ten sacks last season. Bunkley signed with the Super Bowl champion Baltimore Ravens squad, making their defense even more hostile than it was.

The Eagles also failed to re-sign starting middle linebacker Stewart Bradley, who came in third in tackles last season and also intercepted two passes. Bradley found a home with the Detroit Lions, who also made their 11-5 squad even tougher.

To replace Bunkley, former Chicago Bears defensive tackle Marcus Harrison was signed. Harrison has only recorded four sacks in the past three seasons, but also suffered from multiple injuries that kept him sidelined. To replace Bradley, former Raven Tavares Gooden was signed to a five-year deal. Gooden has undeniable talent, but it also young and inexperienced.

The Eagles' defense took a few steps back, while the offense didn't make any additions to better themselves. All in all, the Eagles probably did regress talent wise, but that shouldn't restrain them from being a ten-win team for the third straight season.

Talented Bills Squad Await Eagles in Week One

Talented Bills Squad Await Eagles in Week One

Terrell Owens will be making another return to the city of Philadelphia.

Week one poses a challenge for the Philadelphia Eagles, as the Buffalo Bills will be coming in to town.

The Bills have running back Marshawn Lynch, who rushed for 1,123 yards last season, as well as the best wide receiver corps. in the entire National Football League, with Terrell Owens, Lee Evans, and Santana Moss.

The Eagles defense could be a bit out of sync because of the off-season losses of Brodrick Bunkley and Stewart Bradley, but their blitz schemes will still be intact and they will look to rattle young quarterback Trent Edwards.

Buffalo is a squad that could take a lot of teams by surprise, and Philadelphia can't take them lightly.

                                Eagles Barely Escape Buffalo

                                (0-0) - 19 @ 22 - (0-0)

                                Recap:

A talented Buffalo Bills squad traveled to Philadelphia to face off against the Eagles in week one of the new NFL season.

Bills' quarterback Trent Edwards sustained a minor injury in the first quarter, forcing Byron David, the rookie from Nebraska to fill in during the second and third periods. David impressed, outperforming the starter Edwards.

Donovan McNabb and Brian Westbrook both played well, and the Eagles had three different receivers catch touchdown passes. The key to the game was Philadelphia's defense. They were able to sack the quarterback eight times, proving to be a key factor in the game.

The Eagles will have to deal with another talented squad next week when they travel to New Jersey to face off against Mark Sanchez and the 0-1 Jets.
