Eagles Sign WR Johnson to Fill in for Maclin

Eagles Sign WR Johnson to Fill in for Maclin

The Philadelphia Eagles have come to terms with wide receiver Bryant Johnson. Johnson signed a two-year deal worth an estimated $2.10M.

Johnson was brought in to replace Philadelphia's leading receiver, Jeremy Maclin, who will be forced to miss ten weeks due to a fractured toe. Maclin ended his season with 43 receptions for 625 yards and four touchdowns.

Johnson will most likely be put in the slot for Philadelphia, with DeSean Jackson and Jason Avant flanking him on both sides. Johnson will be active for next Sunday's game against his former team, the 7-2 Arizona Cardinals.

NFC's Elite to Match Up in Philly

NFC's Elite to Match Up in Philly

Matt Leinart will be starting in place of the injured Kurt Warner.

In a rematch of last year's NFC divisional matchup, the 7-2 Arizona Cardinals will be facing off against the Philadelphia Eagles, who are also 7-2.

The Eagles are riding a three-game winning streak with quarterback Donovan McNabb and running back LeSean McCoy looking as hot as ever. The Cardinals, however, will be playing without their star quarterback Kurt Warner. Matt Leinart will be taking his place.

If the Eagles can get in Leinart's face he could very well be rattled and play poorly. Philadelphia will need to do so if they want a chance at victory.

Eagles Defense Plays Tough; Eagles Triumph Over Cardinals

Eagles Defense Plays Tough; Eagles Triumph Over Cardinals

          (7-2) - 9 @ 21 - (7-2)

          Recap:

In a matchup of 7-2 NFC powerhouses, the Arizona Cardinals matched up against the Philadelphia Eagles at Lincoln Financial Field.

The Cardinals, playing without their starting quarterback Kurt Warner, had Matt Leinart behind center. Philadelphia's goal was to get in Leinart's face to rattle him, and they did just that, sacking Leinart seven times and forcing an interception.

The Eagles' offense struck early with a 42-yard run in the wildcat formation by wide receiver DeSean Jackson, his second rushing touchdown in two games. Running backs Lesean McCoy and Tatum Bell both played well, and newly signed receiver Bryant Johnson made a good first impression.

The Eagles will go off of this big win into next week's game against the 4-6 St. Louis Rams.

          Statistics:

8-2 Eagles Prepare for 4-6 Rams

8-2 Eagles Prepare for 4-6 Rams

O.J. Atogwe is one of the league's best ballhawks.

The 8-2 Philadelphia Eagles will be hosting the St. Louis Rams, who are 4-6 on the year.

Rams' quarterback Craig Jordan has impressed many this year, and leading a St. Louis team to four wins in ten games is an accomplishment in itself.

The Eagles are riding on a hot streak, defeating numerous tough opponents consecutively. If their defense is able to rattle Jordan like they were able to rattle Matt Leinart last week, it should be an easy one for Philadelphia.

                    Recap:

The 4-6 St. Louis Rams faced off against the 8-2 Philadelphia Eagles in a game that was expected to be a blowout. The Rams, however, proved everyone wrong.

Quarterback Craig Jordan got off to a hot start, and running back Steven Jackson played well too. However, being as strong as a team that the Eagles are, they climbed back like everyone knew they would.

Donovan McNabb and LeSean McCoy both played well, as McCoy passed the 1,000 yard mark for the first time in his career.

                        LeSean McCoy's Breakout Year

                        LeSean McCoy's Breakout Year

LeSean McCoy has became one of the league's elite.

LeSean McCoy of the Philadelphia Eagles stepped in to replace a weathered Brian Westbrook at running back after Westbrook's season came to an end in week one due to injury.

McCoy excelled immediately, and now finds himself third in the entire National Football League in rushing yards with 1,012 through eleven games, behind just Michael Turner of the Atlanta Falcons and Adrian Peterson of the Minnesota Vikings.

McCoy's feats shouldn't be a surprise to anyone, after winning the NFL's Offensive Rookie of the Year Award in 2009 and running for 1,476 yards and 11 touchdowns through his first two years.

The progression of LeSean McCoy as an elite running back may mean the end of the Brian Westbrook legacy. Westbrook has one year left on his contract with Philadelphia, and he will most likely be put in to a backup role next season.
