I still have to play Cal and Oregon so we'll see how that turns out. But USC is definitely in the driver's seat. Cal beat Oregon so the Bears have the tie breaker there, but USC beat Cal so USC has the tie breaker over Cal. We lost to USC so the Trojans hold the tie breaker over us. I don't think USC has played Oregon yet so that will be a key game for the conference.

Pretty deep conference, but remember all of the Pac-10 teams play each other so they're all going to beat up each other by the end. But still this has been the best conference and is really making recruiting difficult.

      Game of the Week

      #12 Ohio State (6-1) @ #15 Penn State (5-2)

Chris: We're here in Happy Valley *crowd cheers* for a Big Ten rivalry between Ohio State *crowd boos* and Penn State. *crowd cheers* Well, we thought at the beginning of the year that this game might determine the conference but a surprising Illinois team has yet to lose and is in the driver's seat. That is because of a big upset win for Northwestern *crowd boos* over the Nittany Lions last week. So this is almost a must win for both teams if they want to stay in Big Ten contention.

      Other Prediction

      #21 Florida State (5-2) @ #16 Maryland (4-2)
      Kirk: FSU Lee: FSU

Chris: Chris Peterson has been able to bring the Noles back to respectability this year. A win over an underrated Terp team could be big for Florida State. Well, another coach in his first year with a top tier program is Brian Kelly. *crowd cheers* After a tough debut in Tuscaloosa, the Lions have been playing really well until a debacle against Northwestern last week. So can the Nittany Lions get it going today? Here at home in front of their home crowd that is expected to be clad in white here at Beaver Stadium. Time for the picks guys.

Kirk: These are two evenly matched football teams. This will be a heavyweight fight today between two great defenses. Turnovers will be key to victory. Ohio State has a ridiculous +18 turnover differential to lead the nation in that category. But Penn State does a good job protecting the ball also as they are ranked 3rd in the nation with +10. Terrelle Pryor has not been playing that spectacular but he has only thrown two interceptions this season. However, I expect him to really struggle today in one of the most inimidating places in all of college football. Penn State wins a close, close game.

Lee: The Buckeyes have one of the best defenses in the nation and they match that with a great running game led by HB Daniel Herron behind a great offensive line. OSU is ranked 4th in rush offense in the nation, but they are going up against one of the best defenses in the Big Ten. I agree with Kirk. This is going to come down to turnovers and both QBs. I think it is about even so the difference will be the 12th man. The white out wins out today. *crowd goes wild as Lee puts on the Lion headgear* GO PENN STATE! GO LIONS!

WOAH +18. That's ridiculous. Don't know who to side with... I'll have to root for PSU since they have one more loss. It'll give them both two losses.

          #8 Oregon State (5-1) @ Washington State (0-6)

Pullman, WA - After a tough loss last weekend again the Trojans down in Los Angeles, the Beavers could take comfort that they had lowly Cougars next on their schedule. It has been another long season for Washington State as Paul Wulff has yet to win a game. Now they would face the angry Beavers who were looking to make a statement after playing so poorly on national television.

Wazzu immediately gave the Cougar fans something to be excited about when 3rd string QB Marshall Lobbestael found WR Daniel Blackledge. OSU SS Lance Mitchell failed to make the tackle and Blackledge was able to gain 57 yards. Then Lobbestael hit WR Anthony Houston for a 10-yard TD to give Washington State the 7-0 lead.

WSU WR Daniel Blackledge with a 57-yard gain.

The Beavers were making a statement, but just not the statement they wanted to be making as the Cougar defense was able to force OSU to punt after a three-and-out. But WSU was unable to seize the momentum as too went three-and-out. On the next possession, OSU HB Ryan McCants found his found his way into the end zone from two yards out to tie the game 7-7.

OSU HB Ryan McCants finds his way into the end zone from two yards out to tie the game.

But the Cougars were staying in the game and did not seem to be intimidated in the least by what the Beavers were bringing to the table. Lobbenstael, under pressure was able to get the ball out quickly to WR Daniel Blackledge who was able to get by OSU CB James Dockery and take it all the way to the house for a 52-yard TD to regain the lead for the Cougars 14-7.

WSU WR Daniel Blackledge gets by OSU secondary again for a 52-yard TD.

However, the Beavers responded quickly as HB Ryan McCants broke through a hole. Then ran through a WSU DB and scampered 60 yards into the end zone to tie it up 14-14.

OSU HB Ryan McCants with a 60-yard TD scamper

Up to this point, WSU had been able to match OSU but then Lobbenstael was was picked off by OSU OLB Keith Pankey who scored on an easy pick-six to give the Beavers their first lead of the game. 21-14.

OSU OLB Keith Pankey with a pick-six.

To start the 2nd quarter, the OSU defense seemed to wake up and put a stop to the Cougar offense. However, OSU QB Ryan Katz would be intercepted by WSU CB Chima Nwachukwu on a deep pass to WR James Rodger. But the Cougars were unable to take advantage of the opportunity. When OSU got the ball back, Katz would find himself under pressure and was able to get to James Rodgers over the middle in single coverage who took it the distance for a 72-yard TD to make it 28-14 OSU.

OSU WR James Rodgers takes it the distance for a 72-yard TD reception.

To make matters worse for Wazzu, Lobbestael would throw another interception which OSU CB Brandon Hardin took back for another pick-six. Suddenly, Oregon State was up 35-14.

OSU CB Brandon Hardin with another Beaver pick-six.

The Beavers would continue to pull away when they were able to tack on a 19-yard FG at the end of the half to make it 38-14.

Surprisingly the Beavers were unable to continue their dominance in the 3rd quarter. To start the 2nd half, the Beavers were held on 4th down in WSU territory. But the Cougars were held yet again. Though WSU was able to force the Beavers to punt. When a fake punt prevailed for the Cougars it looked like WSU might be able to score but OSU DT Mitchell Hunt was able force the ball loose from Lobbestael in the pocket which the Beavers recovered. But then OSU QB Ryan Katz turned around and gave it right back WSU when he was intercepted.

So to start the 4th quarter, WSU HB James Montgomery lining up in the slot scored on a 2-yard TD run on the jet sweep and then Washington State was successful on the 2-point conversion to cut the lead to 38-22.

After yet another OSU three-and-out, Wazzu found itself in the red zone when Lobbestael connected with Blackledge for another big gain. Unfortunately, Lobbestael on the very next play was picked off by OSU OLB Dwight Roberson. Not long after, Ryan McCants found a huge hole, broke a tackle at the sideline and was gone for an 88-yard TD run. The Beavers were now out in front 45-22 and many of the fans started heading for the exits.

OSU HB Ryan McCants houses an 88-yard run.

After the Cougars were held on 4th down the game was all but over but it did not stop McCants from scoring another TD on a 44-yard run to set a new school rushing record of 305 yards and putting the Beavers ahead 52-22.

OSU HB Ryan McCants sets a new school record of 305 yards rushing on this 44-yard TD run, his 4th TD of the game.

Backup HB Jovan Stevenson also got in on the action as he broke loose on a 62-yard TD run of his own on the last play of the game to make it a 59-22 beatdown.

                        Week 9

                        #12 Ohio State (6-1) @ #15 Penn State (5-2)

(top) OSU HB Daniel Herron was named the Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week with 164 rushing yards and three TDs. (bottom left) Turnovers killed Penn State all game long. (bottom right) PSU HB Brent Carter in for the injured Stephfon Green rushed for 133 yards and two TDs.

State College, PA - The Buckeyes started the game off with a pounding, physical drive with HB Daniel "Boom" Herron. The tailback was able to hurdle a defender on a toss to the right en route to a 34-yard TD to put Ohio State on top 7-0 early. Penn State's HB Stephfon Green would fair as well as would leave the game with a dislocated shoulder after his first carry of the game. But the Nittany Lions would manage to put a 27-yard FG through the uprights to make it 7-3. But Ohio State answered back quickly, this time through the air when QB Terrelle Pryor threw a great pass in the corner of the end zone where WR Devier Posey came down with the 12-yard TD reception to put OSU up 14-3.

More bad news would hit the Lions when QB Kevin Newsome left the game with bruised ribs in the 2nd quarter. That would leave red shirt sophomore QB Matthew McGloin to take his place. The Buckeyes pressured him on his first snap and it led to a pick-six for OSU DE Thaddeus Gibson to put Ohio State out in front 21-3. Finally, somebody made a play for Penn State when backup HB Brent Carter broke off a 52-yard TD scamper to make it 21-10. However, on the next PSU possession, Carter was drilled in the red zone, fumbling the ball which was scooped up by DT Garrett Goethel and returned all the way back for another defensive TD. 28-10 OSU. The Lions would tack on a last minute 42-yard FG to keep the game close at 28-13.

But the turnovers continued to plague the Nittany Lions as McGlowin was intercepted again by OSU MLB Etienne Sabino for another pick-six to put the Buckeyes ahead 35-13. PSU head coach Brian Kelly, sensing that the game was getting out of hand, decided to risk a 4th-and-one at midfield but Carter was stuffed by OSU DT Cameron Heyward which would lead to a Buckey 24-yard FG to make it 38-13. Finally McGlowin would show some glimmer of hope for the fans when he his freshman WR Ed Anderson who was wide open on a deep post for a 68-yard TD to make it 38-20. Penn State appeared to be back in the game.

OSU HB Daniel Herron would end any chance of a comeback with a 6-yard TD run to finish off a long Buckey drive that now made it 45-20 OSU. PSU HB Brent Carter would punch it in from two yards out to make it 45-27. But Herron would later make a highlight spin out of a tackle and take it in for his 3rd TD of the game on the 26-yard run to put the rival Nittany Lions away with an impressive 52-27 victory.

I got a bit burned out for a while with NCAA and a little frustrated with a couple of the game results I was having such as the 305 yards rushing against Washington State. Also the real Civil War loss to the Ducks took a lot out of me. Then when I was ready to start up again I couldn't find the website. The address changed or something but now I'm back and hopefully I can regain the momentum from before.

Oregon State received its first commitment this week from four-star DT Dan Bostic out of Washington, Indiana. With both Stephen Paea and Mitchell Hunt in their final year, Bostic will almost certainly start as a freshman next season. Rated the sixth best DT of this year's class, the 6'6" 290 pound defensive lineman should be a terrific pass rusher but still has the strength and size to stop the run.

                                Game of the Week

                                #12 Oklahoma (6-1) @ #3 Texas A&M (9-0)

Chris: Welcome to College Station. Well, there is a new threat in the Big-12 South and that is the surprise team of the season so far in Texas A&M. The Aggies come into today's game with a 9-0 record and the nation's longest win streak at 11 games in a row. But they have their work cut out for themselves as they will play a very good Oklahoma team. If it were not for a stunning defeat against Colorado, the Sooners would probably be competing for a national title.

Chris: Alright guys. Time to make the picks.

Kirk: This is the Aggies' chance to show they are for real. A win tonight will make Texas A&M a legitimite national title contender and set up a huge game down the road against in-state rival Texas. I've got to say I'm buying the hype surrounding this team. QB Jerrod Johnson and WR Jeff Fuller are having sensational seasons for the Aggies. They aren't at the top of most people's Heisman list for no reason. *camera pans to multiple "Johnson for Heisman" and "Fuller for Heisman" signs* If you haven't had a chance to see these guys then you are in for a real treat today. They will have to play well but I think they do it. A&M's passing game leads them to victory today.

Lee: Texas A&M has put up some impressive numbers. You're right sweetheart but not so fast my friend! The Aggies haven't played anybody with the kind of talent that the Sooners have on defense with DT Gerald McCoy and OLB Travis Lewis. A&M QB Jerrod Johnson has a daunting challenge facing him. And I know OU QB Landry Jones has had an awful season so far with only 11 TDs and 13 interceptions... yikes. But it will be OU HB Mossis Madu with already over 800 yards and 14 TDs that will be the difference maker today. Mark it down....Sooners win big! *Lee puts on a schooner hat as the crowd boos* GO OKLAHOMA! BOOMER SOONER!
