      Washington (4-4) @ #9 Oregon State (6-1)

Corvallis, OR - After being named the NCAA Offensive Player of the Week with an Oregon State school record of 305 rushing yards, HB Ryan McCants is starting to receive national recognition. Another big game could move him further up the Heisman list but a reserging Washington would look to bottle him.

After a quick three-and-out for the Huskies, Oregon State appeared to be in line to take hold of the game. That was until QB Ryan Katz was hit in throwing motion. The ball sailed into the hands of UW DE Everette Thompson for an early interception which set up a 5-yard TD run by HB Chris Polk as Washington took the early 7-0 lead.

UW HB Chris Polk scores on a 5-yard TD run.

However, OSU would respond by putting together a good looking drive, marching the length of the field where HB Ryan McCants punched it in from two yards out to tie the game up 7-7.

Later in the 2nd quarter, McCants found a big hole to the left, received a block from WR Darrell Catchings that took out the safety and housed a 41-yard scamper to put Oregon State on top 14-7.

After another Husky punt, OSU QB Ryan Katz finished off a drive by hitting slot receiver Reggie Dunn over the middle on a post for a 12-yard TD to put Oregon State in front 21-7.

OSU WR Reggie Dunn hauls in a 12-yard TD pass from Katz.

On the ensuing possession for Washington, QB Jake Locker would be picked off by OSU OLB Keith Pankey. This time however, the Huskies were able to make a stand and force a 40-yard FG attempt which Justin Kahut booted through the uprights to put the Beavers firmly ahead 24-7. With little time left for the Huskies in the 1st half, Locker heaved up a deep ball that was intercepted by OSU CB Brandon Hardin to bring the 1st half to a close.

Oregon State came out to start the 3rd quarter and the offense was running on all cylandars. A balanced drive ended with Katz hooking up with Dunn again over the middle for a 13-yard TD but Kahut missed on the extra point attempt. But it was still 30-7 OSU.

Katz finds WR Reggie Dunn again for a 13-yard TD.

Things were just not going well for the Huskies as Locker threw another errant pass that was deflected and then picked off by OSU SS Lance Mitchell, setting up the Beavers with excellent field position again. Katz had time in the pocket, showing excellent pocket presence, stepping up into the pocket and gunning the ball to WR Darrell Catchings at the goal line who took in for a 13-yard TD to give Katz his 3rd TD pass of the game. 37-7 OSU.

UW HB Chris Polk would get the Huskies back on the board with his 2nd TD on the ground on 6-yard TD run to make it a respectable 37-14. But it was too little, too late, as the Beavers were able to run the clock out and put this one in the books.

      Washington 14
QB Jake Locker: 11-18, 129 yds, 3 int
HB Chris Polk: 23 car, 67 yds, 2 td, 3 rec, 50 yds

            Week 10

            #12 Oklahoma (6-1) @ #3 Texas A&M (9-0)

(top) OU HB Mossis Madu rushed for 153 yards and scored three times. (bottom left) OU QB Landry Jones passed for 330 yards and three touchdowns. (bottom right) Texas A&M HB Christine Michael rushed for 193 yards and a touchdown.

College Station, TX - The fans at Kyle Field did not need the yell leaders to get them riled up for this game. All that was on the line for the Aggies was a chance at a Big 12 South championship appearance and a shot at a national title. A&M QB Jerrod Johnson and WR Jeff Fuller would have their opportunity to show the rest of the nation they are legit Heisman contenders.

However, to start off, the Aggies looked overmatched as they were overwhelmed by the outstanding Sooner defense, going three-and-out. As for Oklahoma, the Sooners easily marched down the field where QB Landry Jones hit WR Jameel Owens on a playaction pass at the goal line. On the 15-yard connection Owens was hit hard in the end zone but hung onto the football to put the Sooners on top 7-0.

Though, the Aggies turned things around when A&M QB Jerrod Johnson opened things up with a 46-yard pass to WR Jeff Fuller. It would set up a pass over the middle to slot receiver Kenric McNeal for a 6-yard TD to tie the game up 7-7.

On the ensuing possession OU QB Landry Jones threw a pass right to A&M CB Coryell Judie who easily made the interception and returned it for a pick-six. Texas A&M now had a 14-7 lead just like that.

But Oklahoma struck back quickly when Jones went over the top and was right on the money to WR Ryan Broyles who caught the ball in stride for a 48-yard TD to tie the game up 14-14.

In the 2nd quarter OU QB Landry Jones was picked off again, but the Aggies were held and forced to punt. But the Sooners would turn it over again when freshman TE Jason Prince put it on the turf and A&M recovered. This time the Aggies managed to convert a 26-yard FG to regain the lead 17-14.

Late in the half, Johnson would get the Aggies into the red zone. With under a minute left, it would come down to a 4th-and-one inside the OU 10-yard line. Aggie head coach Mike Sherman decided to go for it rather than taking the easy FG. Johnson could not find anybody open and threw an incomplete pass that was nearly picked off as the Sooners dodged a huge bullet heading into halftime.

Bob Stoops must have inspired his team to play better at halftime because the Sooners came out with their hair on fire to start the 3rd quarter. On the 2nd play of the half the entire game turned around. OU HB Mossis Madu found an opening, slipped by a tackle and took it 62 yard to the house. Just like that the Sooners regained the lead 21-17.

But to make matters worse for the Aggies, Johnson was picked off on the very next play from scrimmage as the crowd let out a collective groan. OU CB Lamar Harris was able to easily take it back for an easy pick-six to now make it 28-17.

Then the Aggies were stopped on a 4th-and-three just inside Sooner territory when HB Christine Michael who was actually having a great game, was stuffed by OU DT Gerald McCoy in the backfield. Some of the fans booed the playcall and it would not be long before they saw OU HB Mossis Madu punch his way into the end zone on a 2-yard scamper to suddenly make it 35-17.

After another A&M three-and-out, Madu would cap off another drive with a 1-yard TD run for his 3rd touchdown of the game to give Oklahoma a 42-17 lead heading into the 4th quarter.

Even when the Aggies were able to finally stop the potent Sooner offense, Oklahoma was able to boot through a 50-yard FG to increase their lead to 45-17. As many of the fans started heading for the exits, A&M HB Christine Michael gave the remaining fans something to cheer for when he made his way down the sideline, breaking two tackles en route to a 73-yard TD run to make it 45-24. In final minutes OU QB Landry Jones threw his 3rd TD pass to WR DeJuan Miller on a 17 yard connection as Sooners brought the Aggies back down to reality with a 52-24 destruction of Texas A&M and its 11-game win streak.

              Game of the Week

              #3 USC (7-1) @ #5 Oregon (7-1)

Chris: We are coming to you live from Eugene, the home of Autzen Stadium. *crowd cheers* After last weekend, the polls have been completely shaken up. I think it is safe to say that the Pac-10 has been the most competitve conference this season. With four teams in the top ten. So today's game between Oregon and USC will be a huge factor deciding who wins this conference. A win for Oregon could set up a possible four-way tie between USC, Oregon, Cal, and Oregon State. But a win for USC will put the Trojans in the driver's seat as they have already defeated both Cal and Oregon State. There are a bunch of good matchups on tap this weekend so we have a lot to get to...

              Other Game Predictions

              #13 Purdue (7-1) @ #21 Ohio State (7-2)
              Kirk: Pur Lee: OSU

              #17 Fresno State (7-2) @ #12 Boise State (7-1)
              Kirk: FS Lee: BSU

              #18 Alabama (6-2) @ #16 LSU (6-2)
              Kirk: Bama Lee: Bama

Chris: So we now turn to a game that will be played just down the road later tonight in Corvallis... *crowd boos* where the Beavers of Oregon State will host their former head coach Dennis Erickson's Arizona State Sun Devils. Despite the setback against the Trojans, the Beavers have bounced back behind one of the more unbelievable stories in college football this season. HB Ryan McCants has had some incredible games so much so that Corvallis may have forgotten that he took over for a sensational back by the name of Jacquizz Rodgers. Now Mike Riley may have to make a difficult decision when Quizz comes back which might be in time for the Civil War here at Autzen Stadium. *crowd cheers* ASU has been kind of a surprise but can they beat a talented team like Oregon State?

Kirk: I really like the way Mike Riley has the Beavers playing right now. They have a balanced attack with a very good defense. I think they get it done against the Sun Devils today. *crowd boos*

Lee: Not so fast! I'm not drinking the orange Kool-aid just yet. This is a major trap for Oregon State. The Sun Devils will be able to slow down McCants and force the inexperienced Ryan Katz to beat them. This will be closer than the experts think but Arizona State gets the win. *crowd cheers*

              #23 Arizona State (6-2) @ #6 Oregon State (7-1)
              Kirk: OSU Lee: ASU

Chris And now on to the showcase game here today. *already loud crowd gets noisier* Alright guys. Who gets it done today?

Kirk: I know it's cliche but turnovers will be a huge deal today. USC is ranked 5th in the nation with a +11 turnover margin while the Ducks are ranked 6th with a +10. That means neither team turns over the ball very often and excels in getting take aways. Something has to give. I think USC's #1 rated rush defense will force Jeremiah Masoli into throwing into coverage. And offensively, the Ducks will have no answer to stop the difference maker that is Joe McKnight. Sorry Duck fans but the Trojans win decisively today. *crowd boos*

Lee: Oh come one Kirk. Give the Ducks a chance. They've got two excellent playmakers in Masoli and HB LaMichael James. Those two will have to make big plays. But especially Masoli will have to play well. I think he's up to the challenge but can that Duck defense stop the Trojan offense? Hmmm...of course they can with the help of these crazy fans. *crowd goes nuts as Lee puts on the Duck headgear* GO DUCKS!
