Brewer Getting Out And Running (And Doing It Well)

Things were starting to click for Corey Brewer.

The game was slowing down, and he was gaining confidence. But 15 games into his second season with the Minnesota Timberwolves, the sleek 6-foot-9 forward tore a knee ligament.

Brewer said he’s feeling few effects from the knee surgery, outside of a little soreness two games into the 2009-10 regular season. But he’s also feeling pretty good about the new up-tempo style of coach Kurt Rambis, taking him back to the days when he won two national championships at the University of Florida.

“We’re going up and down more, cutting to the basket,” he said. “All the stuff I did at Florida.”

Brewer has averaged 18.5 points, 3.5 rebounds and 3 assists in the first two games of the season, up from the 6.6 points, 3.3 rebounds and 1.7 assists he averaged a season ago.

Corey has an opportunity big enough to drive a truck through. The team has no proven, starting quality SG or SF. Even though Kevin McHale is gone, the front office still wants to see Corey succeed due to spending a high pick on him. Plus he is marketing gold with his smile and humility.

“A team always needs defense,” Rambis said. “A team always need players who play hard. A team always needs players with a passion for playing. He has all three."

“We’ll continue to work on his outside shot, but I love his spirit. I love how hard he plays.”

All I've tweaked so far but still pleased with the results I'm getting. Barely beat the Nets. Got trashed by the Cavs. Stats look realistic. Still hard as shit to make 3's so far. But then again, I don't really have any marksmen.

Will be doing a top plays video each week and it will be posted before each of my weekly updates. I only played 2 teams this week and didn't save every nice play but you get the idea. Enjoy!

Dude, Flynn shook the shit out of Devin Harris but I had the presence of mind to dish to Brewer. I was like "fuck, he just missed an open shot" and suddenly I see Hollins out of the corner of the screen rise up and throw that shit down. Sickest dunk ever. He just extended for it. It was nasty.

Thanks man. That play was actually pretty bad ass. Didn't manage to get the whole replay in though. Brewer tipped it, saved it, ball went to Flynn, Brewer took off down the floor, Flynn lobbed it too him and he took it to the rim for an easy 2.

Brewer's gonna be something special for me.

Thanks everyone who has posted in here thus far. Appreciate the support.
