Stefanski Lets It Be Known: Noone Is Untouchable

In a press conference held lastnight by the Sixers after their loss to the Timberwolves, Sixers GM Ed Stefanski went on to to release this statement:

"Make no mistake, everybody is in play right now," said Stefanski. "There are no sacred cows here. You lose that sacred cow status when you miss the playoffs."

And after lastnight's loss to the Wolves, the Sixers fell to 11-29 and barring a huge miracle, the Sixers will miss the playoffs for the first time in 3 years.

It's not often you see a GM put his entire team on the block, but Stefanski obviously wants to get the word out, both to his players and other GM's, that he'll do anything to improve his team.

Sources tell us that Stefanski is aiming to acquire young talent and expiring contracts to make noise in the upcoming free agency bonanza in 2010. Which is where the Wolves, who have a plethora of both young talent and large expirings, come in.

It's obvious the Wolves most glaring hole on their roster is at the starting 2 spot. Andre Iguodala immediately comes to mind.

Any deal involving Iguodala would likely require the Wolves to take on a large contract, possibly costing the Wolves the opportunity to be players in this upcoming offseason's free agency. Additionally, the Sixers would likely be asking for one of the Wolves point guards to fill a hole that was opened up upon Andre Miller's departure from the team an offseason ago and Louis Williams' exit from the team a week ago in a trade with the Magic.

However, if David Kahn is serious about getting this team to the playoffs this season, "Iggy" could be just what the doctor ordered.

There isn't a set deal drawn up yet. It still needs tinkering and still waiting to see how things play out up until the deadline. There is a chance it doesn't even happen considering what it will cost me. Not to mention, the Rudy Fernandez idea is still in the back of my mind.

Why would they want Brewer? They have Thad.

              You are onto something though.

Wolves Get It Done The Hard Way Against Division Rival Thunder

                Starting Lineups:
                Jonny Flynn PG Russell Westbrook
                Wayne Ellington SG James Harden
                Corey Brewer SF Kevin Durant
                Kevin Love PF Nick Collison
                Al Jefferson C Etan Thomas

                (21-21) 113 vs. 109 (18-23)

Jonny Flynn scored the last 4 points of the game, including 2 free throws that proved to be the nail in the coffin.

                Player Of The Game:

                Corey Brewer

                Quote Of The Game:
"If I said we shot or took care of the ball very well tonight, I'd be lying to our guys. But to their credit, they did a hell of a job of getting to the charity stripe tonight. Anytime you're able to get to the line for 30+ attempts, you put yourself in a good position to win. It isn't pretty and certainly not exciting for the fans but it's getting it done...the hard way." - Wolves Head Coach Kurt Rambis

Yep, mostly my hometown Heat. But I follow lots of teams for different reasons. Blazers because their young and exciting to watch, Magic because I want VC to win a ring this year, etc etc.

I think it makes a lot of sense as well. We'll see what happens.
