Wolves Get Approval Of Pavlovic Buyout

The NBA approved the Wolves' contract buyout of swingman Sasha Pavlovic, clearing the way for Minnesota to waive him today.

Pavlovic, acquired as a free agent in the offseason, saw his minutes plummet after Jarvis Hayes (who signed a 2 year extension just days ago) was acquired from New Jersey earlier this season.

"It's given us a bit of room, not cap room but just breathing room and flexibility to move ahead for our future," Wolves GM David Kahn explained. "You've got to balance the financial reality with the basketball possibilities."

Terms of the buyout were not disclosed.

Coincidentally, rumors surrounding the Wolves of a possible trade at the upcoming trade deadline are starting to heat up. The Wolves roster now sits at 14.

So michael edits his contract to $0 releases him then posts a buy-out article. Smart move

That's what I'd do if I had a Knicks chise with Curry Jefferies and co.

              Are you dumb?

He was making less than 1 mill and it was an expiring contract.

Editing the contract to 0 and then releasing him doesn't do me any good or make a difference.

I pay him for the remainder of his contract (which expires at the end of the year anyway.)

              :banghead:

I figured putting together the article like it was a buyout might be more interesting than just saying I waived him.

if you buyout someone you save a little bit of $$ not the whole thing...im not so great with nba contracts tbh
That would be cheating. Realistically, any player with a long term deal will not accept a buyout. The premise being why would they take less money when they have guaranteed money for years to come.

Releasing a player = still being forced to pay that player their salary
Buying out a player's contract = coming to an agreement with the player (or his agent) to pay them a smaller amount of money than they were guaranteed so that the organization/team/franchise saves money

Again, I'm not losing money because it's a video game so it wouldn't make a difference if I edited the amount of money he made because his contract is set to expire at the end of the year anyway.

Posey "Stings" Wolves With Game Winning 3

                Starting Lineups:
                Jonny Flynn PG Chris Paul
                Wayne Ellington SG Morris Peterson
                Corey Brewer SF James Posey
                Kevin Love PF David West
                Al Jefferson C Emeka Okafor

                (22-21) 79 vs. 80 (21-20)

                Player Of The Game:

                David West

                Quote Of The Game:
"There was a whole lot of bricks and misses going up tonight, by both teams. Up until the 4th. That's when their offense ramped up and ours continued to sputter. We were lucky to even be in a position to win considering how poorly we played. James (Posey) had been cold all night as well but he got that last 3 to go. That's basketball. We'll have to work on getting back into our offensive rhythm to avoid losses like this. These are hard to take." - Al Jefferson

Brutal loss. I think 79 is a season low for points scored in a game.

Nothing was going down for me.

Yeah, he got caught up in a screen at the top of the key but still managed to get his hand in his face. Posey's got ice in his veins though.

Dude is underrated as shit. So glad I was able to ink him to an extension. Didn't hurt that he asked for just over the veteran's minimum either.
