The Qwest for Flight | Yawkey's Seahawks Franchise

    The Intro
The Seattle Seahawks never have to worry about a disinterested fan base. Boasting one of the loudest home venues in all of the NFL, Qwest Field emphasizes the 12th man and the noise they can create. The Seattle Organization has also emphasized controlling the NFC West, which culminated in a 2006 Super Bowl appearance over the long time face of the franchise Mike Holmgren. Holmgren compiled a record of 84-76 over his 10 seasons in Seattle while going 4-6 in the playoffs.

Seattle has fallen on hard times as the NFC West saw the rise of Arizona and the faltering of Seattle. Holmgren left after 2008 and the roster has been crippled with old age, injury, and regression. Matt Hasselbeck has struggled to stay at 100% and Shaun Alexander is now a thing of the pass. WR acquisitions Deion Branch and Nate Burelson have also suffered from the injury bug. The defense has gone through it's fair share of reconstruction and now boasts a very formidable young linebacking corps.

Jim Mora has taken the reigns under owner Paul Allen, but one spot remains vacant. General Manager is a task that not many are willing to assume in Seattle. Mike Holmgren was rumored to return but nothing has become of those rumors as Holmgren has moved on to other enticing options. That left a bevy of unheralded suitors. Of those arose one formidable option, Mark Chiarelli. A product of the New England Patriot front office, Chiarelli hopes to acquire similar successes that Scott Pioli and Thomas Dmitroff are famed for.

Chiarelli faces many challenges during his personnel and staff overhaul. Only time will tell if he is in fact the right man for the job.

    Introduction/Editors Note
I just wanted to give a little background information on this franchise, outline some rules and plans as the GM and what I plan to bring to the table. I hope for this franchise to last obviously. I just got a laptop, so updating should be a lot more convenient and frequent. Expect some graphic work, although not too much. In my honest opinion, too much graphic work will lead to burning out. My gameday layouts will be text based and simple. In edition to that, expect...

    -Game previews
    - Periodic Articles
    - GM Journal, where you get the GM's opinions.
    - Around the NFL type deal
    - Scouting/Player Personnel movement

Onto the GM aspect of this franchise.

As some of you may know, the GM is a fictional version of "me". I did this to make it feel like I was a GM first, coach second. Jim Mora is the coach of this team, I just make decisions and play the games out. One of the things I enjoy the most about sports is the way the front office works with the draft, free agency, player progression.

As the GM of this Seattle Seahawks organization, I know there is work to be done. As much as I like Matt Hasselbeck who lives near me and went to Boston College, his time in Seattle is dwindling. We have playmakers at the wide receiver position and the tight end position, but without a reliable option to get them the ball they will collect dust on the outside. Outside of Wide Receivers and Tight End, there must be an offensive overhaul. There will be an infusion of youth and playmakers to more than just one position.

A good football team starts in the trenches. Ones who can dominate the line of scrimmage are already on their way to being succesful. So adding to the offensive and defensive line is priority number one. The linebacking core and the defensive line look like they will be less of a problem than the offense, as Lofa Tatupu, Aaron Curry, and Leroy Hill are great anchors to the defense.

The turnaround won't be instant, but should not be as strenuous of a rebuilding process that some believe. I'm confident in some of the parts we already have and am confident we can add pieces moving forward.

    Franchise "House Rules"

There will of course be no money plays. I will be testing out sliders soon, and hope to play 15 min. quarters with 25 second runoffs.

Rosters if i recall correctly are set to 55 man maximum. I will have to make cuts down to 50 players maximum and a 48 player minimum. I will also have to let at least 1 player above 75 overall go each off-season. If you guys have any questions, feel free to ask.

Carlson is a man among boys, but Im sorry Julius Jones follows his blockers and runs through the gaps as bad as a blind kid would. Actually, no worse.
