Hawks Offense Puts on Show, Lose on Final Drive

    30 27

Seattle The Seahawks just cannot scratch out any luck. Isaac Bruce caught an 8 yard slant route on 4th down with 1:28 left in the game to put the Niners up, prolonging their hopeful playoff run and putting just another loss in the loss column for Seattle. Both teams played to a 10-10 draw at half, with Nate Burleson and Vernon Davis scoring the TD's.

T.J Houshmanzadeh had one of his biggest games of his lifetime, reeling in two 70 yard bombs only to be caught at the 5 yard line each time. He finally got into the endzone on a 24 yard touchdown pass in the third. Staying true to form, Jordan Babineaux missed an easy open field tackle on a Frank Gore toss play allowing him to scamper 73 yards for a score. Ben Obomanu countered, reeling in a 21 yard TD. The 49ers could only must a field goal on the counter attack, and Seattle finally had a TD. Unfortunately, a crucial Seattle drive stalled at the 30, and Olindo Mare had to kick the field goal. Isaac Bruce made them pay, sending San Francisco into the night the victors.

The Texans are the second team in two weeks who play the Seahawks needing a victory to stay alive. Houston comes in at 7-5 while the Seattle Seahawks are 3-9.
          Houston Players to Watch
Houston comes in with the high octane offense of Matt Schaub, Steve Slaton, and Andre Johnson. Teams have had no problem breaking big plays off against the Seahawks this year, and with a trio like that I see it being no different. Walter Jones has to face yet another speed rusher off the edge this week, this time it is Mario Williams coming to town.

          Seattle Seahawks Players to Watch

Julius Jones has been so ineffective that Seattle has been forced to give Owen Schmitt almost 10 carries a game recently. Jones needs to step it up and at least provide a serviceable effort so that the team does not become so one dimensional. Aaron Curry has had himself a pretty damn good rookie season so far, it will be key for him to bust a lot of run plays up in the backfield.

          Prediction
          Seattle Seahawks 21
          Houston Texans 31

Seahawks Continue to Play Close, Not Close Enough

            23 16

Seattle It must be so disheartening playing every team albeit a few close, only to come up with a loss. Yet another hard fought game by Seattle and another loss, this time to the Houston Texans. It was the (K)Chris Brown parade in Houston, as both the running back Chris Brown and the field goal kicker Kris Brown had great days contributing. Houston went into half up 16-6, the lone touchdown coming on a 2 yard punch in from Chris Brown.

The fourth quarter saw the only scoring of the second half, as Nate Burleson and Matt Hasselbeck hooked up for yet another TD pass, this time netting 40 yards. Unfortunately, Chris Brown pulled off his own powerful 40 yard TD run, and the Texans won 23-16 in a game they had control of from start to finish.

Seattle has a shot! Seattle heads into this home game against Tampa Bay at 3-10, while the Bucs go in at 2-11. This is the ultimate matchup of the bad guys.
              Tampa Bay Players to Watch
Josh Freeman, the Bucs first overall pick this past draft has experienced the growing pains that come along with being a rookie starting NFL QB. He gets lucky this week however, going up against a Seahawk secondary that really does not make many plays. Also watch for the three headed monster of Caddy Williams, Derrick Ward, and Earnest Graham to wear down the front 7 of Seattle.

              Seattle Seahawks Players to Watch

The famed Tampa 2 has been lacking this year without a dominant force up front, look for Julius Jones to get involved early and often. Matt Hasselbeck hasn't thrown an INT in what for him is an eternity, let's keep it that way as he continues to have a very under the radar type season. Lawrence Jackson has been wreaking havoc in the backfield,

              Prediction

              Tampa Bay Buccaneers 20

The Gracious Football Gods have Blessed Us

                10 20

Seattle At first, it looked as if this game would actually go down to the wire. The Seahawks were only up a touchdown at halftime, 10-3, but that proved to be more than enough. The Matt Hasselbeck to Nate Burleson connection is stronger than ever, as it seems like they have hooked up at least once in the past 4 games for a score. That was the only touchdown scored in the first half. Both Connor Barth and Olindo Mare knocked in field goals of over 50 yards.

The third quarter was all Seattle, as they tacked another 10 points onto the 10-3 lead. Cedric Peerman found paydirt on a one yard punch in over center, and Olindo Mare knocked in his second field goal of the game. The Bucs added a meaningless touchdown late, as Cadillac Williams took it off tackle for 30 yards and a score, making the final 20-10. This was Seattle's 4th win of the season. Three have those wins have been against teams with weaker records than them, while the 'Hawks pulled off one upset against the Cowboys.

Seattle goes to fabled Lambeau to take on the Green Bay Packers in a game of opposite records. Seattle's season is over at 4-10, but Green Bay needs to win both of their final games to be safe in the playoffs.
                          Green Bay Players to Watch
Aaron Rodgers has really come into his own this season, surpassing any doubts people had about him replacing Brett Favre. Rodgers must be thankful for the play of guys like Donald Driver, Greg Jennings, and Jermichael Finley who have made the transition that much easier. Ryan Grant may be the X factor in this game, as he has proven to be a reliable fallback option.

                          Seattle Seahawks Players to Watch

With only two games left to play, a number of Seahawks could be playing for their jobs right now. Matt Hasselbeck, Julius Jones, Deion Branch, Patrick Kerney, and Jordan Babineaux are all playing for keeps now. They need to show front office something that would make them be inclined to want them as a part of their future plans.

                          Prediction
                          Seattle Seahawks 17
                          Green Bay Packers 35

Seattle Can't Ride a Winning Streak, Fall to Green Bay

                              31 14

Green Bay It had the makings of a great game, at least for one half. The Seahawks struck first, hitting T.J Houshmanzadeh on a fade route from five yards out to go up 7-0. Ryan Grant tied it up 3 minutes into the 2nd, on a 26yard run right up the middle. You rarely ever see the Seattle defense get torched up the middle, as they are a very stout front seven. The Packers went up on an 8 yard TD pass from Rodgers to Jennings, but the T.J Houshmanzadeh train rumbled back into the endzone, this time on a 4 yard slant route. It was 14-14 at halftime.

Going into the second half, many thought that Seattle would have a chance to stick around and potentially ruin January for the Packers. Unfortunately, no one told the roster of this as they laid an egg. Scoring zero points and allowing 17, Seattle completely took themselves out of the game. Aaron Rodgers fantasy owners were happy at the end, as two fourth quarter TD passes padded his stats and possibly won some week 16 championships.
