McGrady's 3 Send Rockets Into OT, Houston Dominates Final Minutes
Shane Battier separated his shoulder after he lunged for a loose ball and was landed on by Tyson Chandler. He is expected to miss two weeks.
Player of the Game:
Tracy McGrady
Quote of the Night:
"Tracy really took a step forward today and led our team to a big win. Chris Paul was being himself and making spectacular plays and although it was tough to stop their offensive attack, it was even harder to stop ours. It seemed like every time Paul hooked up with Chandler on an alley-oop, our offense came back and did the same. Tracy hit a huge three with a few seconds left to send us to overtime and we were able to finish from their. Hopefully this win starts a streak of them." - Aaron Brooks
Report: Wafer to Replace Lowry as Backup Point Guard
Over the past few weeks, Von Wafer has been in a lot of conversations pertaining to the possibility of starting at point guard. Although he does not possess the typical handling skills most generals of the floor do, Wafer does possess better defense, rebounding, and shooting abilities than Aaron Brooks and Kyle Lowry.
General Manager Prime Time and head coach Rick Adelman met with each other for more than two hours discussing the issue and came to a temporary conclusion. With Von Wafer's recent play impressing the coaches, Wafer has gotten a part of his wish. Wafer will be the sixth man coming in for Aaron Brooks at the point leaving Lowry as the 3rd string point guard until further notice.
"We have seen great strides in the improvement of Von Wafer on the court. Over the past few weeks, Von has asked us for the chance, which we offered everyone the opportunity to do, and he has worked hard and given us 100% all year. Brent Barry will also see more playing time as well as Luther Head. We hope Barry can give us all he has defensively with the absence of Shane (Batter) for the next few weeks. By taking Lowry out of the 2nd unit, we get a lot better offensively on a 2nd unit that is prided by their defensive abilities in which just lost one of its best scorers in Shane." - Head Coach, Rick Adelman
In this meeting, the GM and coach also discussed their feeling of Chuck Hayes and Brian Cook coming to a final conclusion that Cook will see his first minutes of the season and replace Hayes as the 12th man on the active roster. Cook can play both power forward and small forward and brings the ability to spread the floor with his excellent three point shooting abilities giving guys like Lowry, Carl Landry, and Dikembe Mutumbo more room to be productive on the glass and under the basket.
This sucks. I had to face Devin Harris and Chris Paul the last two games and now I have to go against Deron Williams. What kind of scheduling bullshit is this.
Yao rains threes in his sleep. First one he's hit all year. Only taken like 2 or 3.

He still will hardly see the floor similar to what Hayes' role was but he should get a little PT. I've got plenty of depth to have to resort to free agency.

Rockets Finding the Injury Bug, Lowry Goes Down With Strained Achilles
Von Wafer didn't disappoint in his debut as the back-up point. He played a majority of his minutes at SG though.
Player of the Game:
Carlos Boozer
Quote of the Night:
"We were down from the start but we never stopped fighting. We had a great 3rd quarter and a lot of momentum going into the final 12 minutes. The ball just didn't bounce our way tonight. Carlos (Boozer) seemed like he was just in the right place at the right time every time there was an offensive rebound to be had. We need to focus on boxing out a little better so things like this doesn't happen anymore. Overall, I'm proud of the guys tonight especially after losing Lowry early. We were short handed and our guys never once asked for a breather. We've got a few days off, and we've got the Wizards at home. Hopefully we can get some wins strung together before the all star break." - Rick Adelman
