It Was Over When: 1B Anthony Rizzo, and LF Alfonso Soriano hit back to back HRs in the Cubs half of the 8th. The two Home Runs followed Ranger Catcher and Ex-Cub Geovany Soto's Solo Homer in the top half that tied the game.
Turner Point: The Cubs were able to get Ranger starter Derrick Holland out of the game following the 7th inning. The Ranger bullpen gave up 2 runs and a walk in an innings worth of work.
Player of the Game: LF Alfonso Soriano....3-4 with a HR and 2 RBIs. Coming into the game Soriano had been struggling at the plate, hopefully this a sign of things to come.

SS Javier Baez is one of many Cub Prospects that are currently blocked by a current Big Leaguer, but he may be one of the few who forces the teams front office into a difficult decision. Baez has all the tools that scouts look for; a good bat, a quick glove, and a strong arm, and while playing with the AA Tennessee Smokies he is hoping to show the team that he can compete at any level. After starting the year in Single A Daytona, he was quickly promoted to AA where he is slowly trying to catch. With only 19 At Bats Baez only has 3 hits, but the bright side to that is 2 of those hits were a double and a HR. The only knock on Javier right now is his patience, he currently has a knack for the strikeout while only drawing a few walks. Cub officials are banking on Baez to pick things up fast, and call him up in September when the rosters expand.

It Was Over When: RF Nate Schierholtz took a Derek Lowe pitch to the Ivy for a double in the 5th Inning with the bases loaded, brining in two Chicago Cub baserunners. The Cubs would tack on two more runs that inning, putting the dagger in the Rangers hopes at a comeback.
Turning Point: Cubs Pitcher Edwin Jackson managed to escape a bases loaded 1 out situation in the 2nd innning. With Rangers at every base, Jackson managed to strike out Rangers Pitcher Colby Lewis, and SS Elvis Andrus to end the inning. The Cubs would take the lead in the bottom half and never look back.
Player of The Game: Nate Schierholtz: 2-4, 2 RBI, 3B, 2B, 2R
