Some jack ass spoiled it for me on facebook, then my girl accidentally checked E News and apparently they like to do spoilers on their front page. So yeah, we both had to stay up til 2 AM downloading/watching it.

Dude same thing happened to me. Then all day at work I was thinking about it too. I've had some movies stick with me all day the next day (Saving Private Ryan, maybe a few more) but the only TV show to have a finale hit me that hard was season 4 and 5 of The Wire.

 

I didn't even like Rita and I hate that this happened.

I didn't care about her character. It just pisses me off that Dexter killed trinity without knowing what happened to Rita. If he would have found Rita first, things would have ended a lot differently for trinity. Now Dexter has no one to get revenge on or anything. It will be interesting to see how he responds.

My roommate and I sat with our jaws wide open for a good minute watching that ending. What a show.

Im very anxious to see what they do with the upcoming season (hopefully seasons)

Craziest part of the finale that I didn't get until reading some comments today:

 

Trinity's final cycle was completed. You had the buried boy that they found at the build site, you had his daughter committing suicide, and a mother dying in a bathtub. Finally, Dexter bludgeons him to death with a hammer. When Trinity says "It's all complete now" before Dexter kills him, he's talking about his cycle. Like Lundy predicted, he came back to Miami to bring it all full circle. It's a lot like John Doe in "Se7en". What if Trinity knew, at least on some level, who Dexter was, and what he would do?

 

Great post... the only irregularity is with the death of his daughter. Usually in his cycle, he pushes a women off a building. This time his daughter shot herself. But, still something I hadnt thought of... interesting nonetheless.

Also, to add to the speculation about season 5... I think that maybe Deb will figure out about Dexter because of all the shit she learned in the last episode.
PLUS, I think Trinity's family may come back to fuck Dexter, even if they dont mean to. They still know him as Kyle Butler, so if that information comes forward he could be screwed. People will start to question why 1. he gave the family fake information and 2. why he was following Trinity w/o telling his cop friends.

Should be very interesting to see what happens.

More thoughts on next season:

 

So next season there has to be a huge man hunt going on for trinity still right? Everyone thinks he skipped town, but after he killed Rita...
Deb is going to really want to catch him now. So Dexter is going to have to deal with a lot of questions and what not.

 

If Aster/Cody live with the Grandparents then I think Dex is gonna go all sorts of batshit crazy taking out his anger on whatever victims he can find. Goddamn I knew something had to happen at the end after he killed Trinity and there was like 5 minutes left

EDIT: I knew that Rita was gonna be dead when Dex found her phone, but I didn't expect it to be a bathtub murder, that kinda shook me. Also, I have to wonder why Arthur just left Harrison on the floor of the bathroom and not in his crib or something, I know it was symbolic to show that Harrison and Dexter are the same but it's still kinda weird. Also, whose body did Homicide find at the Four Walls build? The police are DEFINITELY gonna still be hunting Trinity next season, especially with the kidnapping happening a few days before another bath tub murder, plus the whole thing with Quinn and Deb has to have more questions about Dex's mom and Brian. Damn if next season is the last it's goin out with a fucking bang

I doubt they bring in the FBI to help Miami PD continue to look for Trinity next season. So far between every season there has been a time period of months that have passed. I think Dexter will try to cover up how Rita died somehow to try to prevent Miami PD from reopening the Trinity case. Considering he is dead and all. Also anxious to see the effect that Rita's death will have on Deb and Dexter's co-workers.

i am so fucking tempted to read all the spoilers but i've only got the finale to watch so i think i can hold out....from the preview they are cramming so much shit into the last episode i'd love for it to be a 2 hour one. this season has easily been the best season in what is one of the best tv shows on tv right now.

good point, I hadn't even thought about that....but still, with another bathtub murder there HAS to be some sort of investigation. Early on in the season I can see Quinn making some kind of smart ass comment and Dex laying him out
