Because you seem to think that since Kanye West is such a hit maker that he will. By that same logic you must say that the BEP will as well.

My point is that neither cross enough genres that they will be, because as it's been said ad nauseum, people outside of the hip hop realm don't really give a shit about Kanye or the BEP. I sure hell know I don't.
BEP aren't Hip Hop, lol. They're as much pop as Britney Spears is.

I'm smarter than what? Everyone in this thread is being overly subjective. Give me one reason to believe Kanye will be less remembered by the masses than the Ramones or the White Stripes. Both contributed to the revolution of a genre, but they hardly ever merged with the true popular masses.

I can't speak for Heels but I would venture a guess that The Ramones will still be major influences in the punk/rock scene and while I'm not a huge TWS fan i think they will also influence music long after their careers are done. I just can't see Kanye's music being all that influential down the road.

Just fucking stop now. I want to punch you in the face right now.

I already said a few pages back that the White Stripes was a stretch.
But will he be remembered less? The youth doesn't care about the Ramones the same way you do, they do care about Kanye West.

This is all I'm saying. Heels has been asserting that Kanye won't maintain over the years because he can't break the Hip Hop barrier. The Ramones fall into the exact same category, sucks being the most popular underground band ever, but they are still that.

Hip hop is the culture. Rap is the music genre. Jus' saying, wiggers.

It still remains one genre. The argument can easily be made for the influence Kanye exerts on the Hip Hop world. He has dictated almost every style of popular Hip Hop over the past decade.

lol, I have more post in this thread then you do.

Pitty does bring up a good point about The Ramones though. Obviously Kanye is a lot bigger then they were when they first started.

Kanye is seen as one of the best in hip hop.
The Ramones are seen as one of the best in punk rock.

If hip hop is still around, what makes you think people won't remember Kanye like they remember The Ramones?

I just don't see Kanye's music as all that influential, even now, and especially not in the future.

You're misunderstanding the usage. They were never mainstream heels, Punk can't be a mainstream genre. They never had a gold album, never had a top 50 hit, they weren't in the mainstream, thus they are underground, you can still be extremely popular and be part of the underground.
