    30 for 30:The Real Rocky

Anyone see this last night? Maybe one of the worst ones I've watched.

I like how Wepner gos from saying Stallone stole his life for an underdog story to in the next scene pointing out he was ranked #8 in the world and deserved the shot.

His assertion that he didn't step on Ali's foot was hilarious too.

By the way, Ali was awesome. The ass kicking he dished out to Wepner that night, especially after the "knock down" was epic.

I DVR'd it, but I might just erase it. The Wepner story is kind of like the Rudy football story...an interesting thing to turn into a somewhat fictionalized movie, but the real Rocky (Wepner) and the real Rudy (Ruettiger) are pretty lame in real life.

It just came off as Wepner being butt hurt the entire time really. They had all this lame footage at the start of him running in sweats to the Rocky music and him running up the stairs. Etc. Just really cheesy to start out with. Might be worth a quick watch sicne it's on DVR and you can fast forward through commercials etc

At the end it talks about how Stallone/Rocky is in the boxing HOF and Wepner isn't...as if anyone really cares or he should be.

Wepner has been complaining for years. I think at one point Stallone even gave him some money, but it wasn't enough. A tired story, if you ask me. I didn't know they were still making 30 for 30's. Maybe they are running out of material/filmmakers.

Basically a 60m infomercial about how Wepner thought Stallone stole his life.

The end basically says "Stallone gave him money to shut the fuck up about it...oh, and Stallone is in the boxing Hall of Fame and Wepner isn't"...

Best part was seeing him rabbit punch Andre the Giant which had no effect on Andre, only to be tossed out of the ring like a bag of shit.

The last few have been sub par with the possible exception of the Bartman based one. It had too much about Buckner in it but the interviews with the people around and helping Bartman were really interesting and the camera angles were good too. Not a great 30 for 30 but a solid B- or C+

Yeah they settled out of court in 2006. Terms weren't disclosed.

Classic part of that Ali/Wepner fight was Ali punching Wepner in the face and the camera showing the fight actually gets a speck of blood on it. I can't believe that wasn't mentioned seeing as during the show they actually showed footage of that time in the fight.
