    2012 Breakouts

Who do you expect to have a breakout type year in 2012?

I'm going to go with Jordan Zimmermann. He has great stuff. He's 100% back from Tommy John surgery. I think this year he will show he's one of the best number 2 starters in all of baseball.

Throughout the league, I'm expecting Brett Lawrie to rake. And Ackley.
The king was shaken. He went up to the room over the gateway and wept.
As he went, he said: "O my son Absalom! My son, my son Absalom!
If only I had died instead of you
O Absalom, my son, my son!"

    Positional:
    Brennan Boesch
    Colby Rasmus
    Jason Kipnis

    Pitchers:
    Mike Minor
    Juan Nicasio
    Brandon Morrow

    Zimmermann is another good choice.

Impressed in his big league stint last year, expected to be an every day RF for the Mets. Not expecting the world but 20 HR, 80 RBI is definitely a possibility.

And Rasmus last year was so awful, an average year would be amazing.

Rudi, I'm pretty sure Stanton had a 141 OPS+ last year. What kind of breakout are you looking for?

.262/.356/.537, 34 HR, 87 RBI... he kind of arrived.

So you're looking for Stanton to be better than Barry Bonds. Got it.

Dee Gordon should be awesome if he learns to take some walks and turns into an on-base machine. At the high end he could be an All-Star (but I doubt it). He might need one more year. This is also going to be a make-or-break year for James Loney. His bat was hot in the second half of the season and he has shown glimpses of power... If it doesn't happen this year, it never will.

Hoping Mat Gamel can produce like he has in ST. I'd like to see him in the .275-.280 area. The HRs and RBIs will be there either way.
