Chipper Jones calls out Braves Fans

What a shitfuck sports town. Leading the wildcard and your future HOF 3rd basemen is in the stretch run of an incredible year which happens to be his last, and they draw 17000 people. Must of been a Georgia Tech game going on....

It is shitty, same for Baltimore lately, but to be fair, most of these teams don't draw shit on weekdays.

Reds hit 2 million fans the other day the fastest since they've been in GAB, and have broken their sellout record already, but just drew like 17k for these weekday games vs Philadelphia.

    Some cities are weekend cities.

That, and it was the first day back to school for most places. Just can't be going out to ball games that start after 7 and expect to be home by midnight anymore.

Oh and for the record, Nats park had a little over 17k on the same day.
The king was shaken. He went up to the room over the gateway and wept.
As he went, he said: "O my son Absalom! My son, my son Absalom!
If only I had died instead of you
O Absalom, my son, my son!"

Obviously the Phillies weren't in town

The Nats also haven't been in DC for 46 years and ran off 15 or 16 playoff appearances in a row that ended not too long ago. I don't expect a string of sellouts down there, but 17,000? I don't care who their playing, that's brutal.

Cardinals had their lowest paying attendance today since the inception of Busch III in 2006 with 30,000.

Probably because it's the safest place to hang out at in St. Louis.

Based on the FBI’s Uniform Crime Report, 24/7 Wall St. identified the 10 U.S. cities with populations of 100,000 or more with the highest rates of violent crime per 1,000 residents.

Reds also drew 17k that night. It seems to be about baseline for midweek September games against non-contending teams.

I don't think a lot of people get the fact that a lot of people don't have fucking jobs and can't afford to go to games.

And in the era of HDTV, watching a game on TV is easy and cheap.

C'mon W2BTD ... you can't deny the economy plays a role in sports attendance.

True, but if you are in a pennant race, you should be drawing more.

As for the Orioles, I can see why fans are apprehensive. Many want to see a winning team before going back to support the team, if they haven't already been lost to the Nationals.

By the time the season ends, the attendance figures in Atlanta will basically be in line with what they've done in recent years.

Why Chipper Jones has to call out fans for not selling out the stadium...I don't see any reason to say whatever they're doing now is not the norm. Just so happens, Chipper felt like tweeting.

It's always weird to me when people worry about what other teams draw. I mean, I don't even worry about what the Phillies draw, why would I worry about what the Braves or Nats or Orioles draw? Not really speaking in regards to anyone here, just more the concept that I've heard this from friends before or other places on the interwebs before. "OUR FANS RULE BECAUSE THEY COME TO GAMES AND YOUR FANS SUCK BECAUSE THEY DON'T! *BRO GRABS*!"

I really didn't come in here to compare fans. Just giving some honest commentary on an article I read. What would be the point of comparing? I thought it was just assumed the Philly was a great sports town
