Ten worst 1B. Only going to include MLB regulars in this list.
1. Yuniesky Betancourt
2. Juan Francisco
3. Paul Konerko
4. Carlos Pena
5. Eric Hosmer
6. Lyle Overbay
7. Garrett Jones
8. Mark Reynolds
9. Adam Laroche
10. Albert Pujols
Davis is slugging over .200 points higher than Votto...and Votto is slugging over .500. Davis is crushing him in total bases, has twice as many HR's, 11 more doubles, something like 40 more RBI...Votto has a slightly higher OBA, but even so Davis is over .400.
I don't think you can make a sane argument that Votto is better than Davis this season.
It seems like a top 10 list for a position is kind of a lot. I mean, that's essentially a third of all first basemen that make the list. Unless we're including DHs or something.
1. Chris Davis
2. Joey Votto
3. Paul Goldschmidt
Everyone else is second tier. One could make a strong argument for Goldschmidt being better than Votto.
I'm more interested in seeing if Chris Davis can continue this for the rest of the season. If he can, Orioles are laughing at trading him for Uehra
The king was shaken. He went up to the room over the gateway and wept.
As he went, he said: "O my son Absalom! My son, my son Absalom!
If only I had died instead of you
O Absalom, my son, my son!"

I'd say they've already recouped a ton of value from that trade, even if he can't continue to do this inhuman shit. Already a major win.

I'm just saying that if you say the top 10 first basemen right now, James Loney is on that list. I mean really?
And I agree with you about that. Hell, Tommy Hunter being an effective relief pitcher makes the deal break even. So the fact they get anything out of Chris Davis is just an amazing bonus for them. Good job by the GM. I'm sure Angelos will take credit and then agree to not share the parking lot with the Ravens for all home games.

Yeah it's weird how Top 10 NFL QBs is the most popular topic in vsn history. I mean, that's essentially a third of all quarterbacks in the NFL that make the list. Unless we're including backups and FB's like Tim Tebow.
Everyone knows who the very best 1B are right now, it's pretty easy to filter the leaderboard by position. The conversation becomes more interesting when debating the merits of players farther down the list.

They also got Tommy Hunter out of the deal as well.
As for Davis, he just looks different, I can't really pin down one thing. Provided he doesn't get injured or mess up his swing in the HR Derby, I see this continuing. People also forget that he had a pretty decent season last year too, and he's just building off of it.
