    RIP Don Zimmer

Rays Senior Consultant/Coach Don Zimmer has passed away at the age of 83. Zim was a constant presence at spring training and always in uniform for all Rays home games.

The Rays TV crew was pretty choked up. Todd Kalas almost broke down announcing it during the 5th inning of tonight's broadcast. Word got down to the dugout and you could see Rays 3rd base coach Tom Foley with tears in his eyes and 1st base coach George Hendrick upset as well.

Zim called the bay area his home since the 1950's and he was a popular figure among fans.

The king was shaken. He went up to the room over the gateway and wept.
As he went, he said: "O my son Absalom! My son, my son Absalom!
If only I had died instead of you
O Absalom, my son, my son!"

This is obviously something his wife and family were planning for as the home he and his wife lived in was placed on the market this morning.

He wasn't around since undergoing an operation on his heart in April.

@DugoutLegends posted Zim in the old Devil Rays uni. Always Jeter's good luck charm...even if he switched dugouts.

Zim was an iconic figure, but his 1978 managerial performance has to be one of the worst in MLB history. Sorry.

He lived in a pretty modest home.

His wife is really taking a bath on that house. Jeez. Tough economy in the Tampa area.

Yeah, I noticed that as well. Bought for $314k and selling for ~$190k.
