first off. LOL at Multi Million dollar contracts in the CFL.

I believe if a player is declaring for the NFL draft, or any league draft...and is drafted. You are playing IN THAT LEAGUE for that TEAM.

If you don't want to take the chance of ending up on a random team. Skip the draft and go the free agent route......no? Can they not do this?

If you don't want to 100% play in a league, don't enter their draft.

That's just how I'm seeing how it should be. I don't think these athletes should be able to do things like this. They are being paid to entertain, whether it's some dirty hick in Minnesota or Spike Lee in New York.....they are the people that are required to make this league exist. With no fans, there's no league, there's no millions of dollars, etc.

The dude is a spoiled little bitch. Hes been getting special treatment from the National Team and DKV Joventut and now he thinks he deserves the same in the NBA. You're a 19 year old Pre-Madonna PUNK, you want to prove you deserve special treatment? Get on a fucking NBA court and ACCOMPLISH SOMETHING.

John Elway got forgiven bcus he was a phenomenal player. He went out and proved that his whole career. Furthmore.. he never complained that his mommy would be too cold in Indy. If Rubio ends up being a HOFer ill forgive him for being a little bitch at the beginning of his career. Until then, hes just that, a little bitch. Being drafted in the NBA is a fucking privilege, a fucking HONOUR. I already thought this kid was over-hyped, over-rated, over-valued, all of that.. now hes proving to be a fucking bitch too. I cant stand him. I hope he never get to the NBA, but a part of me hopes he does get to the NBA so he can fail miserably.

Would he be selfish/stupid for going to the CFL for one season and then re-entering the draft and going to a team where he would be the focus of the offense and not be splitting time? Plus, he wouldn't be playing in Detroit which is known for having a poor team and little hope for being great any time soon.

That situation is almost identical to the one with Rubio and no one would be faulting Sanchez for such a decision.
If you think players make multi-millions in the CFL im afraid I cant ever take anything you say seriously again bro..

Rubio should've just waited till his contract with Joventut was up before declaring. However, Wolves should've been smart enough to fucking pass him up like with the 3 teams did before them. (Grizz, Thunder, Kings)

The more things change in Minny, the more they say the same. New Gm, sure, but this draft seemed so damn Mchale-esque. (Trading Mayo for Love when you already have a PF in Jefferson  )

                Terrible hypothetical then.

Hes the clown that came out and said he'd be honoured to play for free if it meant a career in the NBA. Sounds like hes blowing a lot of hot air out of his ass and is a Pre-Madonna BITCH.

Regardless of how dumb the Wolves are.. and im not questioning how dumb they are, bcus they're plenty dumb. It doesnt change that Rubio's a little bitch. Noone is ever going to give me a good reason to prove otherwise, atleast not until this guy is an NBA All-Star.

When David Stern called out Tyreke Evans at #4, a little piece of me died inside.

Evans and Flynn would've been doppppppeeee
                    Evans and Curry
even fucking Flynn and Curry would've been better than all this uncertainty.

Oh, but it's a "fucking honor" to be in professional sports and you should kiss and massage whoever drafts you. Its not like these athletes are some kind of professionals who have to worry about getting as much money as possible in the limited time they have in the league. Its not like teams can ruin player's hopes to become great or utilize a player incorrectly and hurt their entire career.

                        /sarcasm

When the guy is openly telling teams he won't play for them because he has other options available to him and will only leave Spain for the right situation, you'd think teams might consider that. He isn't being a bitch by doing what is best for his career.

oh and the fact he slipped to 5 makes it even easier for him to want to stay in Spain considering he'll be making considerably less money than had he been drafted 2 or 3.

My question for you guys is that......

Should the NBA (or any pro league) allow this?

As mentioned earlier, the point of the draft is to help 'cycle team success' to ensure financial profitability for all markets.

If a market is failing that's not good for the league. Not to say Minnesota's is, I haven't a clue, but I can't imagine a team that's at the bottom and staying there is all that good for the bottom line.

When a team attempts to rise from the ashes, but a player's poor choices (getting into his situation in Spain)/lack of commitment (only playing where he wants)/ego allow him to skirt the purposes of the league's routine, so that he can eventually play in a market that's not in as big of a need for this player, that's not good for the league IMO.

So again, why do you guys see this as being 'ok' ?

If the major concern is that the player won't be 'utilized' properly or whatever garbage shit to cover up a player half assing to get what they want.......then why not structure something to deal with that, rather than allowing players to fuck up the procedures?
