Deng will keep you RIGHT where you are right now, Ellis will bring a legitimate dangerous option at the 2 guard position and he can score 30 any given night, for a team and coach that preaches defense it would be a MAJOR plus to add another offensive minded player and let Ellis and Rose carry the scoring load while everybody else locks down on D. You wanna play with the Heat than be happy to get Ellis, if you just wanna be a 1-3 seed who gets bounced off then keep Deng.
    Dude calm down.

lol whoa, I think he does have a good point. Seeing as the Bulls already are thin at the 2/3 spots, losing their best perimeter defender would hurt them a lot though...and Deng does a lot for that Bulls squad.

and I can see what you mean, as right now the Bulls don't really have a #2 scoring option with Deng/Booz I feel are more of #3 options. Adding Ellis, you have a legit top scoring option alongside Rose and someone who can create his shot just as good as Rose can and create for others. Though then, you'll be putting Rose on the opposing team's shooting guards...could be a lot to ask.

Yeah. I hate overrating Deng bu tlosing Deng to pick up Ellis isn't that large of a gain dependent on who the Bulls find to play the 3. Where the Bulls have depth enough to trade is in the front court and we have Charlotte's lottery pick next season.

Trading Ellis for Deng might end up being a slight upgrade for the team but I'm not sure it really accomplishes the goal if we have to deal with a "Bogans-esque" replacement at the 3.

It's not a no brainer trade by any stretch.

I'd be more willing to give up a guy like Noah and then start swining trades for grindy down low guys like Reggie Evans than trade Deng for Ellis. We are too thin up to to do that IMO.

              Sources: Warriors, Sixers talking trade

The Golden State Warriors and Philadelphia 76ers have discussed a trade that would send the Warriors' leading scorer, Monta Ellis, to the 76ers for Andre Iguodala, according to league sources, including one with direct knowledge of Golden State's thinking.

One source stressed that completion of the deal is not imminent but that it has merits for both sides.

The Warriors would beef up their perimeter size and defense with Iguodala, who is 6'6" and 207 pounds and can play shooting guard or small forward. Iguodala would be paired with the 6'3", 185-pound Stephen Curry at point guard and 6'9" small forward Dorell Wright.

The Sixers, meanwhile, would be getting an electric scoring guard in the 6-foot-3, 185-pound Ellis, create an opening at small forward for rookie Evan Turner, and slice some money off their payroll.

Ellis is owed $11 million for each of the next three seasons. Iguodala makes $13.5 million next season and the contract increases by $1.2 million each of the next two years.

Their current salaries are close enough that the swap could be made without any other additional considerations and meet league salary-cap rules.

I know Iguodala was an elite player a season or two ago, wasn't he?

I haven't been following bball outside of the Warriors as much, has he declined at all?

Iggy never was elite, he has shown tons of flashes, and his athleticism is ridiculous, but he doesn't seem to be working hard enough to improve his shot and he doesn't seem to play hard all game. He will bust out a game where you think he is the next huge thing then lay a complete egg the next one, maybe a change of scenery would change that tho, he needs a coach who will DEMAND his best and then he can be a great player.

Why would the Warriors make that Sixers trade? It's insane.
I agree trading Ellis may not be a bad move, but moving him for a lesser player with the same cap hit over the same years seems insane.
If it was trading Ellis for Iguodala's expiring contract, fine. But a straight up trade? Really?

Warriors probably want his athletic ability and defense. I haven't seen a lot of him but I hear, while he isn't very good on offense, that his D is pretty darn good.

Yeah, he isn't a shooter but he is a lock down defender and of course has great athleticism. Putting him on a different team where he isn't necessarily the go to guy might help him out a lot, having Steph Curry, David Lee and who ever they add at 11 could make Iggy more of a role player opposed to now where he feels like he has to be the Sixers superstar in the closing minutes of the game. Plus I'm sure they feel this would help Steph Curry work on his defense with having a guy like Iggy showing him some things.
I think it's a great trade for both sides, the Warriors need to improve their size and defense and the Sixers need a legit number 1 scorer and to make room for Evan Turner to play the 3 this season.

Have you ever watched Monta Ellis play? If you thought Iggy was a volume shooter..

Nothing would change for Steph except not having to worry about Monta helping him on D. ;)

Monta averages 20 FGA a game, that ranks #1 in the NBA.

                                Iggy is around 11 FGA.
