And I'm not saying they were both the right calls -- all I said was he's done it before.
oh no, I misremembered a play...pretty sure its not the only play of the hundreds they have ran that I don't fully remember.

Not only that, but the Colts needed to get into the endzone to win the game. Pats D was playing fine, they had a chance to stop Manning if BB just gave them one.

BB is a great coach but that was a terrible decision, no matter how you slice it. Showed no confidence in his defense whatsoever. That can really hurt a team's demeanor and attitude.

As a head coach you can't risk losing the game unless you have to. Punt the ball and make the Colts earn 7. You aren't automatically giving them a win by punting but you are if you fail the conversion. Great teams do not need to take unnecessary risks like that when they are winning.

And whatever happened to "defense wins championships"?

Give your defense a shot at least. What are you paying those guys for? I really think that Belichick has let Brady, Moss, and Welker get to his head and he has forgotten the importance of running the football and playing defense.

It's pretty much the same thing that happens to me when I play Madden. If I use the Raiders then I make it a point to run the ball, control the clock, and put together drives while playing solid defense just to keep the game close. Then when I use the Patriots I throw 10 screens to Welker and 10 bombs to Moss and run shotgun 99% of the time and usually end up losing because I think I'm better than I actually am.
I didn't say they were equal?

while i disagree with the call and if i were the coach i would have punted, bellicheat is a professional football coach and no one on here is even in his neighboorhood on knowledge of the game let alone his team. to call him a moron for trying to win the game on offense instead of defense is just stupid.

They post on VSN, make podcasts of each other, while hi-jacking justintv rooms.

what really blows my mind is that bruschi cunt bag crying like a bitch that bellicheat doesnt trust his defesne. the pats were up 20 at one point but two drives in about 2 minutes each fixed that. the D didnt deserve to be trusted.

i mean, i want to try and support the decision here as a pats fan but i really cannot. You can't "assume" Manning will drive 70 yards on you with one time out and 2 minutes. I don't care what he's done to you before, you still need to make him earn it. We handed the game to the Colts.

another spin on the whole situation is that Belichick trusted his ability to stop Manning and the defense to hold so much that he was willing to take the risk on 4th down. Not that I agree with it, just thought i would throw that out there.

Well I guess good thing we can just quote some of his former players, or people who've coached in the NFL and won Superbowls. This is such a lame cop out argument, I'm sure at one point you've questioned a coach's or player's decision.

i have and in fact i question this descision as well. why the fuck would you want to give a HoF QB who just scored twice in 4 minutes a short field if you fail? bellicheat didn't believe they would fail and while that kind of confidence and or faith in your team in admirable I think it was borderline stupid. But, who has 3 rings in 4 tries? Not me and not you. So while we have fun claiming what the right call was, and dont forget we already have the results, the truth is that bellicheat made the right call for his team at that time. If he makes it we call him crazy but brilliant, he didnt so now he is an arrogant, ignorant moron who has alienated his defense.

i say it one more time; i dont agree with the call. IMO and with my video game based knowledge of football I would have forced the colts to go 70 instead of 28 yards. That being said, what if the punter fucked it up or the returner ran it back? Maybe it was teh special teams bellicheat didn't trust?

P.S. and i question bruce aryans every time that asswipe calls a 5 wide set on 3rd and short and he has two rings...

Why are Colts fans even hunting for blood in this thread? What BB did saved them their undefeated season and possibly even the #1 seed.

He got blitzed. He made his first read to Faulk and if he brought it back and tried to throw over the middle to Welker chances are that the pass is going to be batted down.

haha LOL i cant believe you wasted 10 pages on such a simple topic. each of you that post frequently should have just one post each in here and move on.

this was so simple a topic. the fact is B B should have punted, point blank, plain and simple. You punt in that situation. Even if you are on the other teams 45 yard line YOU PUNT THE DAMN BALL ! time and again, its about one thing = FIELD POSITION. the Patriots still have some all-stars but the mystique is dying. I wouldnt mind if the Bengals, Ravens, Denver, or Steelers get in their way come playoff time.

I'm not gonna read this whole damn thing, but I just have one thing to say.

Wanna know a surefire way to lose a game? Give Peyton Manning the ball at the 30-yard line with the game hanging in the balance. I promise, it'll work every time.
