VSN Group Mock Draft

I know this my sound hypocritical coming from a Lions fan but I was secretly thinking of taking Golden Tate. I didn't tell Kleshreen he was one of the guys I had in mind because I figured he'd definitely be against it. I'm surprised he fell to the second round and I was tempted to draft him just because the Lions suck and need talent.

However, I read a little about Mike Iupati and saw that apparently he has a lot of upside and his size makes me think he could eventually move to left tackle. For now though, he'd be starting left guard on the Lions and that is probably the weakest spot on our offensive line.

Iupati in the 2nd round is a steal. Clearly the best guard in the draft, I don't know much about him but I was hoping he'd fall to the Giants. Match him with Chris Snee and our line would improve immensely.

Fox and I have been discussing the Raiders 2nd round pick.

I haven't followed the prospects as closely as in the past. How would you guys rank the following:

Brian Price, DT, UCLA
Arthur Jones, DT, Syracuse
Jason Pierre-Paul, DE, USF
Tyson Alualu, DT, UCLA

Iupati doesn't have the footwork to play LT

Yeah I read that he's sort of new to the game so I'm sure his footwork will improve. I didn't draft him because I expect him to play LT, I'd like him at LG, I just think that one day he could be able to play LT and it was an added bonus.

Fox and I have been discussing the Raiders 2nd round pick.

I haven't followed the prospects as closely as in the past. How would you guys rank the following:

Brian Price, DT, UCLA
Arthur Jones, DT, Syracuse
Jason Pierre-Paul, DE, USF
Tyson Alualu, DT, UCLA

The guys at ESPN have Pierre-Paul at number 17 on their top 32 list. I read that he really only had a good year this year but he's supposed to be pretty athletic and a good pass rusher.

Knock on JPP is while he did somewhat well this past season, he had help in the form of a great pass rusher on the other side, so he didn't get double teamed.

Also, JPP had the element of being unknown this year. It was his first year in D1 football so teams weren't really up to speed on scouting reports. He's a very high risk/reward guy

Sounds like a guy the Raiders would go after.

Brian Price sounds like a great pick but he's more of a UT, the Raiders need a run-stuffing NT more than a quick UT.

JPP sounds promising since Ellis was so banged up this year and up there in age.
