09 Alabama is waaay too high. Sure, they beat the snot out of the Gators, but very well could have been routed against Texas the way things were going until McCoy got hurt. Still almost lost it against a QB with no experience...

      Way too high.

Its water under the bridge at this point, but it didn't happen.

The holding occured at the beginning of the play when Sharpe grabbed Gamble's jersey on his left shoulder when he was trying to jam him.. and holding was the original call from Terry Porter in the first place.

At around 1:20 in [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NMvjADmxhVw&feature=player_embedded#"]this[/ame] you can clearly see Sharpe grab Gamble's facemask and actually begin to pull his helmet down... obvious facemask right there.

Miami fans shouldn't be complaining about this play, they should be asking then defensive coordinator Randy Shannon how in the world he let Craig Krenzel convert a 4th and 14 with a pass on the same overtime drive.

This is continuously listed by referees as one of the best calls in history, and it's been verified time after time by countless organizations and people. The only thing that was controversial about it was that Porter waited a few seconds to throw the flag.

                [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NFpTkYMLzdc"]YouTube- Ohio State-Miami: The "Pass Interference" Call[/ame]

                Watch that video.

                Clearly wasn't a penalty.

I just watched the vid you posted, lol...I've seen that one before...it basically says "there were lots of potential infractions, it doesn't matter that the one that was called was bogus...they all resulted in a first down"...lol...that is some shit logic..."the call they made is irrelevant!"

                Awesome, can't beat that logic.

Also can't beat the logic "well, Miami should have stopped them on 4th and 14!" yeah, as if that has anything to do with the bad call made four plays later.

I'd say 01 Miami was the more complete team, but the gap between them and 04 USC is not that big.

I think people don't remember how many good players USC had on that team, and are also judging them based on how their NFL careers have panned out - which is silly to me.

USC had 23 players on the 04 roster that were drafted in the 1st 3 rounds of the NFL draft. That includes a 1st round QB, a 1st round running back, a 2nd round running back, 2 2nd round WRs, a 2nd round TE, 2nd round LB, and most of the offensive line. They had a ton of good players.

LenDale White, Reggie Bush, Matt Leinart, Fred Davis, Dominique Byrd, Darnell Bing, Dwayne Jarrett, Steve Smith, Ryan Kalil, Winston Justice, Sam Baker, Sedrick Ellis, Frostee Rucker, Lawrence Jackson, Dallas Sartz, Keith Rivers, Lofa Tatupa and Terrell Thomas.

Not to mention USC absolutely destroyed Oklahoma in the NC game. And Oklahoma was much better than the Nebraska team that Miami beat.

All that said, again, Miami was much more complete as they were hands down better on defense and special teams, which is why'd I'd give them the nod over USC.

I think the offenses are comparable, I'd maybe give a slight edge to USC there, but Miami was hands down better on D and SPT.

I had a long ass post typed up and posted... but I deleted it. I'm done arguing this.

There are 3 calls that could've been made against Miami on that play... and all 3 result in a first down for Ohio State.

Ohio State has the crystal football in Columbus from 2002... and the nation knows we beat Miami. The NCAA as well as the Big 12 (Who's officials worked the game), agree with Porter's call.
