New Orleans escaped serious damage from the actual storm until the levees broke and flooded the city the day after the storm passed. The town where we owned a home was wiped off of the map and is still in shambles. We spent almost a month there after the storm trying to salvage what we could of the Acadian style beach home that we had purchased as a long term investment.

So if you are talking about any part of the gulf coast region that is covered by the 90 mile radius between Hattiesburg, New Orleans or Bay St. Louis, I have close friends and family all over the place and probably understand it a little better from either personal or shared experience better than you do. No seeing stones required.

I have driven through this stretch of I-10 at least 100 times, and I can verify Mr Bill's story. Bay St. Louis is the next exit after Kiln. The I-12 split, at Slidell, features a great shopping center. There's a Wendy's a Chick-fil-A and a Bennigan's. Great shopping as well.

That's the airline road exit on I-12. Good daiquiri shop if you go down past the McDonald's and turn left on Gause...nothing like drive through grain alcohol goodness..lol

and they still had a chance to win. Fumbles and Fave crucial INT killed it for them so while the calls may have been bad, Vikes shot themselves in the foot

Agree with the fumbles. People are putting too much on the INT though. It went from a very little chance of winning with a 56 yard FG attempt to no chance. It plays some role, but it was still a long shot for the Vikings after that 5 yard penalty for 12 men in the huddle. Favre needed to make a huge play and it just wasn't there. If the Vikings won that game, he'd be a God right now because of the way he dominated the Saints defense.

But without the two easiest calls the refs messed up, it's a 10-14 point swing in the favor of the Vikings.

I was completely making all that up, I vaguely remember stopping at a Wendy's in Slidell at some point, but I try to avoid the North Shore as much as possible. I-12 is a shitty shitty road that I viewed as a necessary evil in getting me to Baton Rouge. Nothing good on the North Shore, nothing.

I fucking hate it for that reason alone. There ain't shit to do. You gotta go across the lake to find something to do and a lot of times I just don't feel like doing that

No he didn't . He needed to run into the open 10 yards and slide or wait for something else or throw it away . You never make that throw even with a 56 yarder needed on an incompletion. The team had a chance if he incompleted it or ran for a few yards then slid ... they had 0 chance after he throws that . And even worse they could have took that back to the house then there would be no overtime at all . Face it, he made a mistake, I'm sure he will admit too it aswell.

Farve could run for a good 5-10 yards to at least make the FG easier. and it would have been a 51 yards according to NFL network. The FG gives yourself a chance to at least win the game. Whether you miss it or not. Do you think if the Vikes kicker missed the FG that many would be going a little easier on Farve? As it stands, he's the goat. But really it's all moot, the Vikes beat themselves, not the refs.

What about the Check-In-Check-Out deli? Best shrimp and oyster po-boys on the North Shore!

It's definitely not the most interesting route.....that's why the grain alcohol helps. It's almost all big box retail stores and subdivisions but there are some good restaurants and sports bars. It wouldn't be that bad if it wasn't getting compared to everything you can get into across the lake in the city

Favre could barely walk after the submarine shot at his legs, he said after the game that he really thought his ankle was broken. I'm still trying to figure out why Childress went into ultra conservative mode on the edge of FG range when the Vikings offense was moving the ball at will with the spread formation or floating screens. Two obvious runs into the middle, the stupid 12th man penalty and then calling a rollout play for your gimped up QB to run 15-20 yards. Pure genius. Favre threw a stupid pick but his coaches let the team down in the last minute of regulation.

So the fuck what, he looked alright on the roll out. Yeah the other stuff happened, but Favre should have just ran the ball, he gets hit oh well, this wasn't a week 5 game, it was a chance to go the Super Bowl. Brett probably didn't want to get hit again and just said fuck it.

Have several 250 pound men run full speed into your ankle multiple times and see how far you can run.

Yeah... there's a bit of a difference between a roll out and trying to rush for 15 yards.

He wasn't gonna get 15, would've been between 5 and 10. I know he's hurting but you can't just throw a pass like that with the game on the line.
