Nice to see Bowers with a clean bill of health. If he can live up to his pre-surgery hype, man, what a steal.

At some point this preseason, I’ll project a breakout player in the NFC South. This guy doesn’t qualify because he’s already a big name, but I’m expecting a huge season.
The guy I’m talking about is Tampa Bay tight end Kellen Winslow.
As Joe Henderson points out, this is a rare August for Winslow. For the first time in a long time, he’s not recovering from knee surgery. Winslow reportedly has had seven knee surgeries and the Buccaneers were very cautious with his practice time last season. He played on Sundays, but frequently didn’t practice on Wednesdays or Thursdays.
When I talked to Winslow at a players-only workout at the University of South Florida back in May, he said his knee was feeling better than it has in years. He also was in a vibrant mood and talked glowingly about the rapport he’s building with quarterback Josh Freeman. Winslow, who usually spends much of his offseason in San Diego, spent a lot of time in Tampa, working out with Freeman this year.
Winslow often was portrayed as a malcontent during his time in Cleveland. In Tampa Bay, he’s stayed quiet, often avoiding the locker room during the period it’s open to the media.
But Winslow was talking -- very pleasantly -- back in May. Since camp has opened, he’s talked to the media several times. It seems like the lack of knee pain has lifted his spirits.
I think it also will lift his play to a new level this season.Originally posted by Pat Yasankis NFC South Blog/ESPN*Former Atlanta running back Jerious Norwood agreed to terms with the Rams and he’s not the only former NFC South runner who could end up in St. Louis. Jim Thomas reports, Tampa Bay free agent Cadillac Williams remains on the Rams’ radar. The Bucs have said they would like to bring Williams back. But, presumably, that’s only at the right price and only if they can’t find someone better. According to league sources, the Bucs made overtures toward Darren Sproles before he agreed to terms with New Orleans.
* Stephen Holder supplies a refresher course on the rules of safety Tanard Jackson’s suspension. He’s not eligible for reinstatement until Sept. 22 and cannot practice with the Bucs during training camp. Jackson was in the final year of his contract when he was suspended last year for violating the league’s substance abuse policy. As a result of that, the remainder of his contract rolled over to this year and the Bucs still have his rights. In the meantime, Tampa Bay appears content to open the season with Sean Jones and Cody Grimm as the starting safeties.

4:20 p.m.: I know I say this everyday, but I still haven't seen WR Mike Williams drop a pass. He is on another level. - A.R.
4:12 p.m.: The boys are back on the field after a brief cool-down and McKenzie is running the first-team defense again as it takes on the first-team offense in an 11-on-11 drill. - R.C.
4:04 p.m.: Time for cool down. Bucs get to relax for eight minutes. - A.R.
4:02 p.m.: Bucs are going working on punt coverage and getting very snippy with each other. This heat will do that to you. - A.R.
3:55 p.m.: Bucs are now in the special teams portion of practice. Time to slow it down. - A.R.
3:46 p.m.: Tyrone McKenzie just dropped an interception. Opportunities like that can't be missed. - R.C.
3:41 p.m.: I see CB Myron Lewis on the sidelines and it makes you wonder where has he been in training camp? He has been at camp, but a non-factor. - A.R.
3:38 p.m.: E.J. Biggers is on defense. Talk about a forgotten hero from last year. - A.R.

3:33 p.m.: WR Mike Williams just caught a TD pass during 5-on-7 drills with Aqib Talib and Dekoda Watson all over him. - A.R.
3:32 p.m.: Mason Foster is getting some snaps with the first-teamers in a 7-on-7 drill. The real star of the drill so far, though, is LB Dekoda Watson, who just intercepted Josh Freeman on a pass that deflected off TE Nathan Overbay's hands. - R.C.
3:29 p.m.: The running backs are now working on tackling drills. - A.R.
3:26 p.m.: The word from the Bucs is that FB Erik Lorig is suffering from a strained achilees tendon. The team doesn't believe the injury is serious and expects Lorig to be back in a few days. - R.C.
3:24 p.m.: Kregg Lumpkin is getting a lot of work on early downs today. He's definitely getting a good opportunity to prove he's worthy of the backup RB spot. - R.C.
3:20 p.m.: Benn is now working out on his own on another field while the rest of the team goes through 11-on-11 drills on the field nearest the stands. - R.C.
3:16 p.m.: Bucs are lining up in a nickel defense to start 11-on-11 drills. Of course, the offense is running the ball. - A.R.
3:12 p.m.: Benn just made a strong cut on a passing route and barely broke stride. His absence was just a precautionary measure for sure. - A.R.
3:06 p.m.: Bucs backup QB Mike Coughlin is overthrowing running backs during pass-catching drills. Hope he gets to keep a souvenir jersey once Rudy Carpenter returns tomorrow. - A.R.
3:03 p.m.: The Bucs' defensive backs are not on the main fields. They must be practicing on a smaller field to work on specifics. - A.R.
2:53 p.m.: WR Arrelious Benn is back out at practice. Let's see what drills he does today. - A.R.
2:46 p.m.: Players are stretching right now. They are in helmets in pads. - A.R.
2:41 p.m.: Practice is about to start. Players are lumped into positions. Drills starting in one minute. - A.R.
2:37 p.m.: Bucs QB Josh Freeman is signing autographs right now. Talk about a frenzy! He has tons of fans, especially lots of children. - A.R.

- Williams beats Talib on a deep out in right field. Talib not happy.
- Ed Gant makes a great over the head catch in the left corner of the end zone. Forget who gave it up (some practice squad type guy) but the catch would have been difficult vs. air.
- Lewis gets beat initially by Mike Williams but does a great job recovering to break up an end zone pass in the corner from Freeman.
- Briscoe beats Talib on a approx. 10 yard out route. Talib still not happy. Later, Briscoe drops a similar pass that should have been caught.
- Ronde Barber puts himself in great position but drops the Freeman INT in some great slot coverage vs. Winslow
- Last one - Mike Williams makes an outstanding catch over his outside shoulder streaking down the sideline. Talib is once again the victim, and this time takes his helmet off. Definitely pissed at himself.Comment

Talib knows he'll prob goto jail at some point this year cuz he's stupid. He's doing this on purpose so it doesn't seems so bad when he's gone.Comment
