    Update: Pac-12 Divisions Official

Looks like this could be the official breakdown.

The new divisions for the Pac-10 are not set, but USC athletic director gave a hint as to what they will be at a USC booster club meeting in San Gabriel, Calif., on Wednesday night.

    Division A:
    Arizona
    Arizona St
    Colorado
    UCLA
    USC
    Utah

    Division B:
    Cal
    Oregon
    Oregon St.
    Stanford
    Washington
    Washington St.

Seems okay to me, not sure what Haden is bitching about.

"I told [the rest of the athletic directors] my alumni will kill me if we don’t play the Northern California schools," Haden said.

"I proposed a 5-2-2 model that has us playing the five schools [in our division] every year and then have the Northern California schools as part of our regular two and then rotate the other two. We need to play Stanford and Cal."

Um, who is saying you can't? What is with these ADs and school presidents making this way more complicated than it has to be? The SEC gave you a fucking template on how to make it work, and the ACC gave you a template on how to not make it work. It's not rocket science, do the plan that works (SEC now does a 5-1-2 rotation but it was 5-2-1 for the first 10 or so years) and quit fucking bitching.

I can see his gripe kind of. Why would you want to play Arizona, Colorado, Utah and Arizona State when you already have long standing rivalries tied up with Stanford in Cal.

The 5-2-2 model makes sense, but so does putting Cal and Stanford in the same division as USC and UCLA.

This kind of expected, one of the main reasons CU went to the Pac10 is because they reassurances that they would be included in a division that showcased southern California.

Great news for CU! They have a very big alumni base in southern Cal. Also I think CU could do very well selling this to possible recruits in that area. Can't wait for that CU vs Utah game next year.

The same reason Alabama plays Arkansas and Mississippi State instead of its longstanding rivalry with Tennessee ... oh wait.

            Geographical split+cross-divisional permanent opponents=success

Why exactly does it matter whether USC is in the same division as Cal and Stanford, if they'll still play every year in a 5-2-2? If you play them every year, you play them every year.

No they won't. Utah is here to stay, especially now that they are in an AQ. And Colorado is a sleeping giant which will only get better and more attractive to recruits with the increased revenue.

I like it since they seem to keep the biggest rivalry teams in the same part of the conference.

He can say whatever he wants. Until the games are played, we won't know. Oregon's playing lights-out, as they have, Arizona is in the top ten, California has been pretty good, UCLA's having a decent season, Oregon State is playing well, Stanford is playing well, and Kiffin has no idea how to get players to tackle or how to manage a clock.

I'm not counting anyone out, and I'm not prognosticating about the future until at least the end of this season.

Favorite, yeah, but they won't win every year.

They could play USC or UCLA in the championship game if they stopped bitching and started winning.

Yea this is fine, can't see any other way it could of been done, need to have Californian schools in both divisions and this is the obvious split.

                            Cyclical.

Makes little sense when people analyze splits in this manner.
