RRod might go to Tulane if they fire Toledo, as he has coaching ties to the school and gave them one of their best teams and players in their history...

There's actually a rumor being tossed around of him going to Clemson to be an OC

For the ninth time in the past five weeks -- and the fourth time in the past 24 hours -- a Div. 1-A head coach has found himself booted from the sidelines straight onto the unemployment line.

          Add UL-Lafayette HC Rickey Bustle

The Denton Record-Chronicle reported Saturday that Florida assistant Dan McCarney had been offered the vacant coaching position at North Texas late last week, but was still mulling the offer over.

Florida Assistant and former Iowa State HC Dan McCarney will likely accept the North Texas job

I hope LSU OC Gary Crowton gets some strong consideration for these mid-major HC jobs. He needs to leave Baton Rouge.

Updated with Billy Lynch and Rick Bustle out. I don't want to say Gruden is "official" yet until I see or hear the press conference. We also seem to have our first hire, as North Texas has offered the Head Coach job to Dan McCarney. He will officially become the Head Coach sometime this week (maybe tomorrow).

Two names we might hear a lot of about a few openings (specifically Vandy) is Tommy Bowden and Phillip Fulmer. Fulmer back coaching would be interesting, I know he has been mentioned at Minnesota as well. Also, Mike Leach needs to end up somewhere. The pirate with a J.D. needs to be back coaching ASAP. I think New Mexico would be a perfect fit.

i agree, he could actually make them somewhat relevant.

So Dan McCarney is in at North Texas and Roberts is out at Arkansas State. As for Locksley and New Mexico, I heard his buyout might be too large for UNM to fire him this year. They might give him another year, but, they also lost over a million dollars in ticket revenue this year, as compared to last year. So they will need to make a judgment call if Locksley is the guy.

Similar situation at Michigan, RichRod's buyout drops significantly after January 1, 2011. Plus, Harbaugh will be playing in a BCS game, so we probably won't know until early January. Seems Michigan might go to the Gator Bowl, and I'm sure David Brandon already knows, but a New Years Day bowl might keep Rodriguez in for another season.

Watch Shannon go to Minny, i remember when CFT reported they were interested in him like a month ago and everyone was laughing. I wonder if they knew he was going to get canned

LSU OC Gary Crowton is one of 4 coaches interviewing for the vacant UL-Lafayette job. God, I hope he gets it.

Looks like Jon Embree will be the next HC at Colorado:

Washington Redskins tight ends coach Jon Embree has been offered the Colorado head coaching job, according to a report in the Denver Post.

Former Colorado coach Bill McCartney told the newspaper that the offer had been made.

However, Colorado spokesman Dave Plati said: "[Athletic director] Mike [Bohn] has not offered the job to anyone at this point. Rumors, everyone wanting to be first."

McCartney also was a candidate for the job. He told the Post that one plan was for him to take the job, bring in Embree and Minnesota Vikings assistant head coach/offense Eric Bieniemy as assistants, and groom one of the two to become the head coach after a period of a few years.

Colorado elected to eliminate McCartney from contention, and the Buffaloes' coach from 1982 to 1994 said he pushed for Embree and Bieniemy, two of his former players, as the successor to Dan Hawkins.

Embree would be the first black head football coach at Colorado. He also is a former Buffaloes player, something those around the school wanted. Embree was considered for the job when Hawkins was hired in 2005.

Bieniemy and Embree both were interviewed last Saturday in the Washington D.C., area. Bieniemy was there with the Vikings, who were playing Embree's Redskins.

"It was never about me doing it again," McCartney told the paper. "It was about setting the table for a black man to come in [as head coach]. And [Bohn] hired one. Now, give him a chance."

According to the report, Colorado would like Embree to take the job and hire Bieniemy as his offensive coordinator

School is denying it, but it looks like Embree is in. Hugh Freeze, offensive coordinator at Arkansas State, has been promoted to Head Coach.

Dennis Erickson needs to GTFO of Tempe..fans here are getting pretty frustrated with him. I'm no ASU fan, but I do think that he is past his prime as a coach.
