Good for Doeren to get the job at NIU, good place for him. False start on Malzahn to Vandy, a report is now saying he turned down the job at Vanderbilt.

Mike Haywood is the next Head Coach at Pittsburgh, I'm definitely surprised on that.
5 vacant jobs right now, 4 are in the MAC.Comment

It's amazing how fast he's rose as a head coach. When he was at ND he'd get interviews for vacancies, but he was never hired. Then he takes the Miami (OH) job and brings them the MAC championship in his second year which leads to the Pitt job. I hope he does well (except against his alma mater of course).Comment

Thank God we only have one more year of Coach Stew at WVU. That was a huge mistake for WVU.
WVU has hired Dana Holgorsen to be there OC next year and their head coach beginning in 2012.

I cringed every time they would interview Stewie on TV. He plays right in to the West Virginia stereotype of a country bumpkin.
The guy showed a lot of emotion, but I didn't care for him at all as a head coach. He got the job on a knee jerk reaction.

As expected, James Franklin is set to become the next Head Coach at Vanderbilt. Article: http://vanderbilt.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1166229
Kent State and Ball State are both "close" to naming their next Head Coach. Both are wide open and there isn't a front runner at either school. Chuck Martin is considered in the running at both schools, and is a favorite at Ball State. He has interviewed for both jobs. Also at Ball State, Stanford coach Brian Polian is a candidate. Kent State has been considering Curt Cignetti, passing game coordinator at Alabama, Billy Gonzales, passing game coordinator at LSU, and Todd Fitch, who is South Florida's Offensive Coordinator. Definite emphasis on the offense with Kent State, their Defensive Coordinator might also be promoted to Head Coach.
All four coaching vacancies right now are all in the MAC.Comment

Polian is pretty interesting. He's a hell of a recruiter, but he hasn't had many meaningful experience or leadership responsibilities on anyone's staff.Comment

I just added Ralph Friedgen to the hot seat after reasing an article on ESPN. Supposedly, he is not guaranteed to come back next season. The school has lost their head coach-in-waiting and three assistants that will follow Franklin to Vanderbilt. Three names that have been mentioned to take over at Maryland: Mike Leach, Tyrone Willingham, and Mike Locksley.
Really strange list of candidates, and Locksley would be a terrible hire. If RichRod is canned, I think this could be a place for him as well.Comment

I prefer Leach though but we don't have the personnel to run his scheme effectively I thinkComment
