Its nice to see someone take a different path than what is expected every now and then. He clearly has other things he'd like to do before playing in the NFL, good for him doing what he wants to do.
Luck decides to stay at Stanford

He'll be a first round pick regardless and he'll cash in regardless as well.

Without reading much of the thread, I say it is a dumb decision if he wants to be a high draft pick. Recently all the QBs projected top 10 after their junior years and stay to be seniors have fallen in the draft. And usually the "hot" junior gets drafted ahead of them.
Leinart falling to Vince Young
Quinn falling to Jamarcus Russell
I know Luck isn't a junior but usually when you are that high of a pick when you are first eligible to be drafted, you get heavily scrutinized if you don't have amazing seasons. Cutler, Sam Bradford, and Tim Tebow have been the only senior QBs to go first round in the past 5 years I believe.
I don't really know much about the class of QBs next year, but if one of them has a great year, Luck kind of falters under a new coach, he could very easily drop hard in the draft.
And to the people that say he doesn't care about money because his family is rich, don't you think he wants to get out there and make his own money instead of living off of dad's paycheck?Comment

Must've missed the memo where Locker was an consensus number 1 pick and lauded as the best QB prospect in a long time.
Locker's situation is nothing like this, he was a raw QB who would've slipped come draft day anyway when the scouts got a hold of him and realised he is borderline retarded and needs alot of work... he didn't even get a 1st round grade by the draft advisory - http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com...ory-committee/Don't Sit Down 'Cause I've Moved Your ChairComment

And those seniors that had their stock rise during their senior years all were special circumstances imo.
Cutler was a scout combine warrior and won a lot of the media over, Bradford was injured most of his redshirt junior* year so he never really got that heavy scrutiny, and Tebow got drafted because McDaniels is retarded.Comment

Thanks, it's still basically the same situation of forgoing the draft for another year. I wasn't looking any of that up, just remembering him turning down the draft to come back and just assumed. My mistake.Comment

"If you had to ask me right now who is going to be the No. 1 pick in the 2011 draft, I would say it's etched in stone it's going to be Jake Locker," Kiper said on April 7. "You can mark that down. Jake Locker, if he's not the No. 1 pick, it's an upset."
Todd McShay, an analyst for ESPN.com, has the St. Louis Rams choosing Locker with the first selection based on current NFL standings.Comment
