I am sure players at schools like Tulsa have high confidence. The guys that go on to play FBS football usually aren't the guys that cut their wrists in high school.

And believe it or not ND recruits some of the most arrogant people in the NCAA.

That might be part of the problem TBH.

It comes with the territory when you recruit 4 and 5 star kids.

I think you mean when you recruit 3 star kids who get the customary Notre Dame star bump.

Despite the haters, the team is BCS capable. He knows it, and so does the team.

ND outplayed USF for 85% of the game. But the fuckups cost the game. The team needs to be coached hard. The mistakes made were unacceptable for the talent this team has.

The only problem with going hard on the players too much can cause is loss of confidence, but these guys are playing football at ND, I am sure they have never been guys with low self esteem.

They'll be "BCS capable" until Michigan bitch slaps them next week.

The kids that get a ND star bump are recruited nationally. It isn't like the Indiana 3 stars get much love. But I am sure once an SEC school starts to recruit a kid they never get a boost in stars.

Put up 250 yards of more total offense than USF.
Had 300 yards passing in one half, almost 100 yards rushing in another.
Held USF to a 3 yard per carry average and didn't allow a run longer than 15 yards on offense.

Like I said ND doesn't turn it over 5 times, they cruise. Eliminate the turnovers, and this is a really good team.

The difference being that they actually live up to their pedigree more often than not.

I wouldn't say it more often than not because the SEC has their fair share of duds. But it isn't fair to compare one school to an entire conference.

I see Hasselbeck is in here, but I have to go drink since it is 5 pm, so I will defend ND later.

But here's the thing... they did turn it over 5 times! Shoot, Tommy Rees got picked off twice.

Turnovers happen. You may want to defend them by saying ND gave the game away, but USF still had to pick those balls off and take advantage of them.

The argument that one team didn't win, that the opponent simply beat themselves is among the worst in football and easily my least favorite.

They just lost to a team that finished 5th in the Big East last year, that only brought 11 starters back. What did you take out of this game that made you think BCS capable?
The defense still looked fantastic yesterday. The offense and special teams constantly put them in holes and terrible situations and they only gave up one TD on a gadgety Tebow-ish play. I'll take it.

On top of that literally everything that could go wrong in a football game went wrong. ND had the ball inside the 5 yard line 3 times and came away with ZERO points. We lost by 3.

Riddick played maybe his worst game ever as a college player and I don't see him doing that week in and week out.

Is this team BCS capable? If we eliminate stupid mistakes, yes. We will be favored in pretty much every game they play this season, with the exception of MAYBE USC and for sure Stanford.

I'm not going to have a knee jerk reaction and say this team let me down. Yeah the loss sucks but there is a ton of season left and if this team finishes 11-1 or 10-2 or 9-3 all this shit will look stupid. It's one week and one game where a bunch of odd shit went on and stuff that I wouldn't count on happening week in and week out.

We've been over this before. It's BS. ESPN, Rivals, and Scouts don't do it. Lemming is a tool and I disregard anything he says

One pick was off a wide open WR's helmet. That's kinda flukey IMO and I don't put that on Rees. The second pick was a bad throw but when a team knows you are throwing the ball and dropping guys into coverage and you're throwing the ball 34 times in one half it's bound to happen.

USF didn't really take full advantage of them though because of ND's defense. And that's part of the point.

Credit to USF for winning the game and holding on but ND helped give that game away in ways I don't see them doing on any sort of consistent basis for the rest of the season.

                              Truth.

Teams that lose the turnover battle typically loses the game so OFC if Notre Dame didn't turn it over 5 times they probably would have won.

Just empty arguments used to downplay the other team or take the sting off a loss.
