lol @ ESPN firing a journalist...for doing journalistic things just because it makes them look bad.

If they gave him permission to write the book, then they turn out not to like it and then can him...stupid corporation.

This is an outrage. ESPN can get fucked with AIDS. Real talk.

I was just about to post this link.

On Monday, Mike Leach released his new book Swing Your Sword, which in part details his acrimonious departure from Texas Tech in December of 2009.

All I can say is ESPN has a big, brass set to pull this shit. Seriously, they are not only losing credibility at this point, but, they could put themselves in line for future litigation depending on how quickly they resolve this "suspension."

This is why I don't watch ESPN or visit their website...unless I absolutely have to. ESPN is more into making the news than they are with reporting it.

ESPN is claiming they never suspended Feldman.

There was never any suspension or any other form of disciplinary action. We took the time to review [Feldman's] upcoming work assignments in light of the book to which he contributed and will manage any conflicts or other issues as needed. Bruce has resumed his assignments.

Never suspended, but he's resuming his assignments. Does not compute.

SportsByBrooks has been going to town on ESPN over this, and rightfully so.

Ever since the surge of social media (Facebook, Twitter, bloggers, etc) ESPN has really come off looking like an ass backwards ran organization.. they could hide behind hearsay and rumor before these medium took off.. but no longer.

As for Leach and his return to coaching.. I've heard several rumors he's got the University of New Mexico job in his back pocket should he want it. Of course, when you're talking about a program that has few fan fare and has won a grand total of 2 games in the last 2 years... I'm not too sure you'd want to take on that job if you're Mike Leach.

Many of Locksley's "top 5" recruits never played a down at Illinois, because they either never qualified academically, or were in jail.

Locksley had a terrible recruiting class this year, which isn't surprising. Hard to recruit when you are 1-11.

Either way I have a soft spot for New Mexico now due to all the Maryland kids on the squad.
They also are bringing in Javarie Johnson.

Doesn't matter if he can recruit... he's a terrible terrible coach.

That will be the reason he's fired after this year. Barring some miracle run.

In contrast.. Leach would probably win, and win fairly quickly at New Mexico. It'd be a nice little spot to show the college football world he's still a damn good coach and take over at a bigger program. Or hell, he could stay and dominate a pretty weak conference outside of Boise State at the top. Who knows.

I just don't know if Leach's ego would allow that to happen. He strikes me as the type of person that feels he should have his choice at 4 and 5-star programs and nothing else.
