Hightower comes over in a trade from the Cardinals, where he scored five touchdowns and averaged 4.8 YPC last year. The Cardinals were in a similar situation- they struggled at quarterback and had next to no threat of a passing game (sans Larry Fitzgerald) and Hightower can work with that. He will also provide a solid set of hands out of the backfield as well

      Runningback Depth: C+
Torain is a solid back, but is already out with a fractured hand. Another injury early in camp is not what he needed, especially with Hightower in tow. Rookie Roy Helu is a one-cut runner, perfect for this system, and he should get a few carries here and there. Shanahan will probably carry four backs, so expect Keiland Williams to be back.
I think you're being pretty nice in your RB grades here. I'm not sure I could give Hightower any sort of "B" grade even if he was surrounded by decent players instead of scrubs. And you fail to mention that he has some issues hanging onto the ball which has already been the case this preseason.

As for Torain, I'm not sure he's healthy enough to get any sort of grade. Or even find his way onto fantasy draft sheets right now for those into that sort of thing.

I had the fumble thing pointed out..........I had to make a couple edits and I think I accidentally deleted it.

I really think he could be a player in this system. He had a pretty good year last year as well- better rushing than receiving but that can easily be blamed on the quarterback carousel.

I definitely wouldn't have Torain be drafted in many leagues right now. Hightower is likely the starter, and the only reason to draft Torain (unless its an extremely deep league) is as a handcuff option if you drafted Hightower.

And I probably couldn't go with anything but an "F" for this QB situation. If this isn't the worst in the NFL then it's bottom 3.

Can't argue with that. If we still had Jason Campbell, this would at least be a respectable team with potential to be 8-8. Like I said, Suck for Luck 2011.

And usually I am an optimist. I have a lot of optimism for parts of this team. I don't have any optimism at quarterback. No way are Beck and Grossman viable options in the NFL. Is there the possibility that I will have to eat crow? Definitely, but pretty much everyone will be if that is the case.
