They do plan to keep Smith but his knee is a question mark (may start the year on the PUP list).

Plax and Eli had beyond amazing chemistry in 2007 and in 2008. If you can add a guy like that to the offense, you have to go do it. Hypothetically, if they add Plax and he gets into good shape by the time the season begins...he and Nicks are the top two guys with Manningham in the slot.

Then you don't have to rely much on rookie Jernnigan or the potential of Ramses Barden or Hixon or Cruz.
